It's clearly going to be Gary Lyon.

I have had issues with his "one foot in, one foot out" relationship with Melbourne while we've struggled over the years, but I'm putting that aside now.

He's one of Melbourne's most famous names, and would be a worthy cup hander-overer.

Need at least two more for Barassi and Neale though when the G can host finals again...

the dream would be if barassi AND daniher both come out after the final siren (after being smuggled over the border) and the crowd loses its [censored]. that'd be too much.

All are noteworthy, suitable for the task. There is little between them. However, although it would be impossible to achieve, Ronald Dale Barassi would be the ultimate presenter and Australia would melt into tears seeing this wonderful man and Club member doing his thing, his birthright and his inspirational personality in that role. This is our opportunity to reward him for a lifetime of dedication. Bluddy covid-19, those who are not observant of the health recommendations have just about bugg-erred Australia and this is yet another example of such compromisingly self-centred negligence. I will dream that Ron is doing the task, instead.

I didn't want it to be Lyon but i mean Mark Neeld can present it if we win it for all i care.

In 2018 and earlier this season i had pictured Barassi and Danniher as a duo doing it. I also pictured winning it in a packed MCG.

Lyon is logical choice as he is in WA. I think Gary has shown some humility the last few weeks on fox and is self aware enough to not

If we win, we will be the hardest team to play against as Neeld prophesised!

Really Great and all that Daisy is comparing her contribution to Melb at this stage it would be an insult to Neiter  Stynes Todd V Schwartz and many others Hassan Mann included.

Glen Bartlett is already in WA also.

Let Daisy shine in the AFLW at this stage please and maybe play in a flag this year.
I also include her role in propelling W footy greatly but plenty in AFL have deserved this honour prior to our much loved No 1 AFlW star.

Gary Lyon is clearly favourite.

Daisy is no insult to anyone at Melbourne and she is in WA

Where and to whom did Daisy compare her contribution?

Do you know how many premiership medals, BnF, AA's and captain stripes Daisy has, in the best comps available to her?.

Daisy loves the Dees so much she boldly told Gill to stuff his AFLW if she couldn't play for her beloved Dees.

I don't think Daisy will be the one nominated by the club to present the cup but you are seriously undervaluing her achievements and value to mfc.  If by some chance she was nominated she would be very worthy of the honour.

How is it an insult when none of those you mentioned are available?

I would have Lyon over Daisy, primarily because she is a current player. But claiming having her present over a bunch of people who can't present doesn't make sense.

Glen was removed as president as he was the only one on the board who didn't back Goodwin, the rest did.

Ken Melville supported by Gaddy Lyon

who-will-present-the-premiership-cup-melbourne

The clubs get to suggest to the AFL someone present the cup if we win.

It has to be someone already in WA.  Fox's ideas.

  • Garry Lyon - club great
  • Shane Woewodin - 2000 Brownlow medallist; played in our last GF.
  • Ken Melville 1953 Bluey winner.  played in 1955 and 1956 premierships
  • Adam Yze - played in our last GF
  • Glen Bartlett - immediate past President
  • Kate  Roffey - current President
  • Ethan, Ethan Tremblay

On premiership credentials Ken Melville would get the nod.  He is 90 and if able I think is the one.

Otherwise Garry would be my choice.

I'm not sure about that.

Kate Roffey has form at getting major developments done and has ties to the current state Government. It was a very strategic handover.

Lyon was 10 times the player of Grant hopefully this is reflected in the result of match.

He would hold the cup up better too.

When he has that cup in his hand to give over to Max I'm gonna bawl my eyes out

It's a fantastic decision.

Glad Lyon got the gig. Someone mentioned Daisey Peace. I didn't realise she was in WA. Wouldn't it be awesome if Lyon dragged Daisy alongside him to present the cup to Max.

But this is indeed a great decision.

So will Lyon.

Is it too late to nominate Natalie Portman

Why Daisy Pearce dazzle?

I find this symbolic for the club to have an avatar of our past issues and missteps at our lowest ebb (Neeld era) to be remembered for what he was at his best for when the club is at its best.

I hope he is holding that cup!

Because Nadia Bartel is unavailable.

In all seriousness Daisy is heart and soul Melbourne and when she was the most prominent female footballer before the WAFL she said she wouldn't play if she didn't play for Melbourne

She is in WA commentating.

Lyon was the obvious choice but I hope Daisy is involved in some way.

I just think she's been the pioneer and the face of the Melbourne footy club for AFLW and a big reason why we as a club do women's footy better then any club in the competition.  She's a loyal servant and turned back offeres to join big clubs like Collingwood to stay with us.

But Garry Lyon for me is the main one. People will have their opinions on Garry but I'm really excited that he's has been given this opportunity.

Right now he he is the connection in Perth for past players and supporters right now. Only have to see him Friday night nearly choking back to see how much it means to him.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.
