I was thinking about how I'll be feeling tomorrow if we drop 3 or 5 goals behind early on.

Notable comebacks for us:

  1. Round 2, we fell 3 goals behind in the second quarter St Kilda;
  2. Round 3, we fell 3 goals behind in the first quarter against GWS;
  3. Round 6, Richmond jumped us early, only two goals but were all over us pressure-wise;
  4. Round 7, we were 20 points down to North at half time;
  5. Round 8, Sydney kicked the first two goals;
  6. Round 12, we were 20 points down to Brisbane at half time;
  7. Round 23, the big Geelong comeback

Four of these were against finals sides, too.

I've been looking through the Dogs' season to see how often they fell behind but won:

  1. Round 2, they came back from 3 goals down in the last quarter to beat West Coast;
  2. Round 8, they came back from 27 points down against Carlton late in the third quarter;
  3. Round 18, they conceded the first three goals to Gold Coast
  4. Semi final, they were 3 goals behind Brisbane in the third quarter

So the semi final really is the only time they've fought back from a deficit. That really comes from their strong first quarter record, they've won almost all of them this year.

I suppose the confidence I want to draw from this is that even if the Dogs jump us early, we should feel like we're capable of bringing it back. But would they feel the same way if we get an early lead...?

I’m hoping for a strong start by us. Then we can apply the shackles on our terms. Very few sides have been able to manage any meaningful catch up footy against us.Ā

Who else feels sick with nerves? It’s really hitting me that I haven’t thought about the possibility of losing all week. Just been dreaming about winning. That is a worry as it’s setting me up for a massive letdown if we don’t win.Ā
Ā

Yeah I feel the same. But in reality a loss will be devastating regardless so we might as well stay positive!

Man I’m like a jack-in-the-box. Can’t sit still, I’ve been told I’m moodier than normal. Wasn’t going to drink but now I’m heavily drinking and betting on the nags just to pass the time.Ā

this is all normal right?? šŸ˜‚

Just bounce the ball already!

Do you mean a letdown as in a GF drought breaking tilt in 2022 at the G? šŸ™‚

You can’t watch on Kayo.

Kayo/Fox never has their own commentators anyway if it is a Channel Seven game.

BT is commentating.

It's not on Fox/ Kayo. On 7 only. Does anyone know if they have an after game show.

This feels like Christmas Eve when I was an 8 year old. Absolutely pumped, but some nerves kicking in now.

As long as the rain doesn’t come early, I think we’ve got this.

Dee's by 50 odd.

Stef Martin subbed out in the first quarter.

Treloar's retirement announcement in the post game presser.

Clarry BOG, but T Mac close behind him with 20 & 3.

Had a strange dream last night, really quite vague but something about Jackson and 6.

  • CASEY: Richmond

    The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demons’ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
    Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.
