There is a tradition on Dland that you report on the snacks available when you are visiting a different ground.

well, I played golf at Quinta Do Lago here in Portugal this morning and the bacon and egg rolls were sensational….. I would give them a strong 9.

Go Dees. We will win by 4 goals going away.

Currently watching the Demons vs the Cats in round 23. It's only 3 quarter time but it's not looking good as we're down by 32 points.

I'll let you know how we go.

I’m finding the expectation of winning is creating the anxiousness.

It’s not going to be a very productive work day. I won’t be able to sit still, for some reason I feel the need to clean the house at moments like this - the wife will love it.

Add to that Zoom meetings / home schooling and a  jogs to get through the day.

Hope you all can enjoy the day (somehow) and we have something to celebrate in the evening.

I have a sneaking suspicion that Jones will be the medical sub tonight. I known there shouldn't be sentimentality when it comes to selection but it would be a nice send off to have Jones out there on the ground for the granny should we make it. Wouldn't have thought he would be any less of a contributor than Jordon either.

It's impossible not to be nervous. Many of us have spent 40, 50, 60 even 70 years riding every bump of this club. I'm convinced this is our best shot.

Up until this point, we've been the best team in it. But that, of course, means bugger all if you if you are even five percent off your game.

I think Geelong know we're the best team in it too. As a result an experienced team like theirs will do everything to pull us back to their level. All those finals appearances playing the best in the comp you surely learn something? All those dirty little tactics aimed at unsettling their opponents. All the mind games, the little one-percenters designed to even up the contest.

Can we handle the occasion? Will our gameplan stand-up? How hard will be prepared to go to get what we want?

I know when we play surge football no one can stop us. I'd love us to crack the game open early. Convert every opportunity. Have a really convincing lead by half time and then cruise into the granny!

I think we will.

I don't know what the hell I'm gonna do if we make it. 2 weeks of build up is enormous.

The last 4 matches have been decided by a kick in the last 60 odd seconds and the one before that was a final. Take about modern day rivalry.

I'm so pumped I could run through a brick wall. I can only imagine how the players feel.

On an unrelated topic I have some chicken thighs, skin on and bone in, brining in a hot sauce and Italian dressing mix to go on the smoker this afternoon. Chicken and salad for dinner sounds divine, beautiful weather up here in north east Victoria and we are out of lockdown so I might to to duck in for a sneaky schooie

I’d be 100% satisfied with a boring game. Get 5 goals in front by quarter time and just add 2 goals a qtr to the lead!

Kuck straight and crush them!

Go Demons, it’s our year!

Oh Goody, it’s game-day. And we all know what that means, don’t we boys and girls!

Pfft, feeling relaxed and being able to concentrate on work is overrated anyways. 🙄

Besides, I quite enjoy feeling nauseous. It’s fast becoming my favourite pastime.

LET’S DO THIS, DEES!!!

Just noticed this in The Age:  “There is no doubt that it comes down to execution, but sometimes there are some benefits in not knowing what is in front of you, not having some of the scars that are associated with prelim finals,”  Goodwin said.

Goodwin now playing mind games!  Very subtle.  Adding to their mental pressure.  Not usually his style.  But, love it!!

Dees by 3-4 goals!!

3 dozen unshucked Pacific oysters being picked up this morning.

Might go a WA Chenin blanc and my favourite beer, weisenstaphner pilsner, a bottle of Paxton biodynamic cab sav for the second half and of course a cheese plate will do.

Go Dees. Geez I'm toey

Their 2-9 record in preliminary finals is atrocious in the last 18 years. Like good on them for putting them self in the position to make a grand final every year but [censored] they clearly have mental demons taking that leap to make it through.

Demons by 47 tonight, cats completely cooked by half time for mine.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
