This game was there for Port if they hadn't been so awful in the first half.

Dogs have kicked 3 goals since half time, and look nowhere near as slick as the first half.

Good point Titan but maybe a bit of tempo footy in the 2nd half as well...

Ken Hinkley:  I feel your pain.

Chris Scott:   I feel your pain, too.

Ken Hinkley:  Let's talk about it ...

Chris Scott:   I ... I... just want to cry ...

Port and Geelong won't go anywhere until they fix their respective inherent problems.

Geelong's gameplan doesn't work in finals.

Port cannot deal with pressure.

Absolutely spot on.

For both Dogs and Dees, our gameplan works and we both deal well with pressure.

Bingo.

Geelong's game plan is soft.

In Port's case, its some of their players.

Can't deal with pressure and don't work hard enough to close down space when they lose possession.  Too many prefer to guard space instead.

Fumble fingers from too many tonight also whereas the Dogs were very slick / one touch in that first half.

Credit to the dogs. Finish 5th travel everywhere and come out and out this performance on.

But I'm sure Goody will look back on where we went wrong last time they beat us. Macrae and Bont performed well and we have to clamp down on Caleb Daniel as he was allowed to do what he wanted.

I feel we have the advantage with Maxy in the ruck and hopefully our forwards can stand up and kick straight. Naughton will need to be kept quiet.

It's going to be a good game.

Bailey Smith is absolutely on fire. He is killing them. I have no idea who plays on him.

I guess it's fitting that the best two teams of 2021 end up in the Grand Final together, but if the Bulldogs win in a fortnight the AFL must scrap the pre-finals-grand-final-whatever-final bye.

We should not be disadvantaged for finishing as minor premiers then winning both finals, while another team (who blew up their top 4 position) is rewarded with a week off to rest up before the big dance.

It was already a farce back in 2016, it will be even worse with the last-minute scheduling change in 2021.

Hinkley is probably hosting the boring luncheon. It’s titled “how to choke”.

    GIANT HEADACHE by Whispering Jack

The crack in the captain’s ankle might be very small but the repercussions of the injury are enormous. The aftershock of the news that Max Gawn will sit on the sidelines for the next two or three weeks has provided Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin with a giant headache, not unlike the one he faced after the Kings Birthday when another Demon superstar Christian Petracca suffered his season-ending injury. That headache is magnified by the fact that Goodwin is facing a month of tough encounters a

    DERAILMENT by KC from Casey

It wasn’t quite a trainwreck although at times, it sure looked like one, so I’ll settle for “derailment”.  The trip to Brighton Homes Arena in Springfield outside the back of Brisbane might not exactly be the same place where Homer Simpson’s family resides but, if you listened closely to the utterances of the Casey Demons fans both at the ground or watching via livestream, you could hear lots of groaning and plenty of expressions of “D'oh!” reverberating in the background, particular

TEN YEARS AFTER by Whispering Jack

Things have changed in the more than ten years since the West Coast Eagles decimated Melbourne by 93 points on the MCG early in the 2014 season. The two sides had not met at the home of football in the interim until yesterday when Melbourne won by a comfortable 54 points to remain in contention for this year’s finals series. Back in those days, the Demons were in the midst of their Great Depression but they have since tasted premiership glory and experienced a long enough period among

GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs West Coast

It’s game day and the Demons return to Melbourne to play the Eagles at the MCG for the first time in over a decade. A win keeps the Dees finals hopes alive whereas a loss will almost certainly slam the finals window shut.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b
