You miss the point

That little pesky club wouldn’t have made it into the 90’s without those 2 bought Flags in the 70’s

Fitzroy had a much longer history

I do wonder where North would be if they didn't break through for those flags in the 70s. Could they have had a tough time even surviving?

Isn’t his (Gunston) body well and truly stuffed?

He had a bulging dusk which wiped out his 2021. He had to have a second bout of surgery to fix it.

Has come back in 2022 and played alright in a team which clearly values younger players more (Mitch Lewis looks the goods so you can't blame them). Had an ankle injury recently but has played 10 games so far this year.

I'm not taking about him being a gun and paying him big bucks. I'm talking about replacing Mitch Brown.

I would much rather be taking about a younger KPF, but I don't think we would be able to afford one in salary or trade.

I think we need to continue blooding our young draftees, give JVH games, draft another tall to develop to replace BBB/TMac, Gunston would clog the pipeline and add little during his time with us given his age, and the fact we now have many leaders with Premiership experience...

I would be disappointed if we took this route.

Very short term benefit if at all, and only able to be recognised as good or bad after some years.  Better to develop our own, younger and faster keep the pressure on the opposition and play “our football” types for the longer view .

Gunston can play more than the Fritsch type role...I wish we had him on board this year as he would make our forward half so much more potent. Great player...

He might be 1cm shorter but he is also 13kg lighter.  He doesn't play Key fwd.

I Love Gunston,  but doesn't fit our fwd line

This year (averages):

TMac - 4 marks, 1 contested mark, 1.7 goals, 1.1 tackles
Gunston - 3.9 marks, 1 contested mark, 1.5 goals, 1.3 tackles

And as far as the AFL's "key forward" rankings goes:

These are the same rankings that don't have Max Gawn as Elite.  Also where is Fritsch's stats in this.  Id say they are better in all but tackles.

Ok, but the point was actually to show he is a 'key forward' given some were arguing that point.

He isn't even a Key Fwd in his own team.  He has had to play more of a key fwd since Roughead retired.  But he is as much a key fwd as Jackson is.

Just cos a website says he is key fwd,  he lines up in a fwd pocket every week.

That dilutes their McStay FA compensation and hurts them with picks and points for Dunkley and the 2 F/S.

They might be able to get the McStay compo then work out a trade with Hawthorn. After the Hawks attempted fire sale last year they probably can’t stand in the way of Gunston going and at nearly 31 his own compo shouldn’t rate highly

Good to see a team that beat us in the finals adding Dunkley, Gunston and Ashcroft, while we lose LJ and replace him with Grundy.

🙄  The trade week hasn’t even started and Grundy is a better player than Gunston and Dunkley

yeah but they’ll start with a 6 goal handicap if they pick Daniher

Wow..

Out if all players you'd think would think the club be chasing Gunston hard it would be us..

Massive disappointment once again that we didn't throw our hat in the ring for a player that fits a significant need for us.

This whole putting our eggs in the Grundy basket isn't that impressive one bit.

Lol on current form?

Nah.

Grundy has huge question marks on his body and will be 29 at the start of the year.

Doesn't even fit a significant need compared to what Gunston.

Strange-ish decision. Could be chaos there for a little while

Don't know why. Gunston is a smart footballer who could fit into any sides forward line. He's a better fit than McStay.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
