My favourite player in the early sixties.

I'm thinking Clint may be a tad effusive.

I remember walking past him after we beat hawthorn in 2018 in that final. He had a massive smile on his face.

He was on that Sam Edmund show this is your sporting life on SEN and said it's embarrassing that we are still the reigning premiership players.

It would just be fantastic to break this drought. There may be a few old past players hanging on to see this happen.

None more than RDB. It was fantastic to see the shots of him in the stand this year.
Alas, none if we do make the big dance this year.

Kicked the goal from the boundary against the dorks to secure top spot at the end of r.17 in 1964.

Deserving of praise.

I was at that game and we should have won by a street, but at that ground and with a strong wind that day, we struggled.

We were kicking to the end where all the goals were kicked, so there was a certain inevitability about it, but it was very late in the quarter when he kicked the winning goal.

He was also at the helm when we got rid of Woey and copped a lot of flack for that. But he was a very good person.

I wonder if dees supporters will remember Max's goal on the weekend like this in 50 years time?

Well I can tell you all definitively that Paul Callery, Barry Bourke and Stan Alves are absolutely pumped for the dees! And like Hassa from that era how could players NOT  be excited🤩

I too, was at that game as part of the cheer squad, and remember that goal as though it was yesterday.

Definitely feels like we’ve already won the flag.

I'm nervous for that very reason, but I hope there now becomes a brothers in arms mentality.  There remains a lot of work to be done and I hope the boys are talking about that for the rest of the week, until the first bounce on Saturday.

In 50 years time they probably will be able to look back and remember it, unfortunately they probably won't be able to remember what they had for breakfast in the morning. The mind does that to you.😀

Good to see him, but all this premature MFC coverage has me nervous

For what it’s worth I don’t think any of this noise will go near the players. I’ve never seen a more focused group of Melbourne players.

I’ve kept a lid on it all year, just enjoyed the ride.

I bumped into him at the G years ago. Charming gent.

Couldn't agree more bingers.  I had the pleasure of working with Hassa for around 6 months in the early 1970's.  A gentleman of the highest order, but with the most fierce handshake I've ever experienced.

When I was schoolboy in 1960s I wrote to MFC.
Hassa personally replied in writing. Think I’ve still got the letter.

Very happy memory of that ending though only saw it on black and white TV.

I’ve sold some VFL memorabilia over the years - Records, Herald colour posters etc.

But never that - cos it was personal.
It will be in my off site storage shed.
In a Mobil envelope and he “hoped I was ardent Melbourne supporter”.

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the

Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’
