Adam Cerra

Featured Replies

Sadly, Adam Cerra has nominated Carlton.

I think it may have been a pragmatic decision made due to Carlton having the number #6 pick in the 2021 AFL National Draft.

Oh well....his loss...time to move on and target someone else to strengthen our team.

There is still huge upside in JJ and Sparrow and our current list just won the cup.

Cerra is not a huge loss.

Yeah im feeling content 🤪

The natural progression of the younger players on our list will strengthen it quite substantially.

In the meantime I would be focussing on Max's & May's successors (3 to 5 years) and a key forward (King) in the next year or so.

I loved the idea of Cerra from a fit perspective (skilful, balanced mid)

But has the guy ever looked pick 5 quality yet? All his yearly highlight packages on youtube look solid at best.

Anyone watched him close enough?

Oh well move on.

At least we can now focus on finding ways to move up the draft order.

Cerra will be a fantastic player. But gee whizz carlton really need to start nailing their own picks before they improve. Constantly over paying in both picks and cap space for "proven" players will catch up to them.

I don't think there's anything wrong with 'overpaying' for proven talent - hell, we've been criticized for that as recently as last year. The problem is they've been spending big recruiting the icing instead of the cake. At least Cerra is the type of player they actually need.

He's a seriously promising footballer. Doubt he'll ever be a game breaker ala Bont, Trac, Oliver etc, but well and truly worth a top 5 pick.

Cerra is quite a bit better than Sparrow and JJ, but I love those boys too.

I wonder if he will be better than Rivers or Bowey though 'A F'...they have a heap of development left in them.

they've sold him on the same thing we did lever - come home, be part of a bright future, be paid a heap of cash

Get to take September off?

I doubt that there's any way we could have satisfied Freo's trade demands, or our own salary cap constraints, without compromising our current list (and perhaps aspects of our superb culture).  Nice but unrealistic dream!

Yes, agreed.

Ben King should definitely be a target for us. It just depends if he wants to play with his twin brother Max at St. Kilda.

Given the Blues handed over pick 8 for Saad I wonder what they will end up giving up for Cerra. No way we could have really got involved here without trading out a few premiership players. No thankyou.

I don't understand this

1. Why wait to now to announce?

2. Why Carlton FFS - plenty of other Melbourne based teams with top 10 draft picks? Most of which are not the basket case of Carlton - he would be well paid at ay club - Why not choose one with some sort of stabilty?

3. If his preference really was us - just announce it and then go to your 2nd choice of a deal cannot be worked out - it's not up to him to repay Freo by choosing somewhere else to work based on current employers wish for reimbursement

4. It just doesn't make any sense whatsoever - but we have one these🏆so WGAFF

Despite my flippant comment about Carlton before, I do see the potential for them to progress next year; adding Hewitt and Cerra to Walsh and Cripps makes for a competitive midfield. The great unknown for me is what the coaching will look like under Voss 2.0.

My understanding is that it will be Selwyn Griffith.

Safe to say he's Welsh on his father's side then.

Reckon it'll be their first & second rounder for him.

Which is funny cause that's pretty much on par with what Freo acquired for prime Lachie Neale.

Why are we still devotimg words to this guy? He has chosen MONEY over fotballing sucess

MOVE ON ALL

Looking forward to pumping Carlton next year

I think your first line is a bit harsh Picket, especially given the post above this one.

I think he went with them simply because we couldn't get a deal done.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

  • PREGAME: St. Kilda

With just over two weeks until their opening match of the 2026 AFL Premiership season, the Demons are already well on the path to redemption and have the Saints firmly in their sights ahead of their mid-March clash at the MCG. What do you think the team will look like when they run out on to the G?

  • REPORT: Richmond

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.

  • VOTES: Richmond

Kozzy Pickett was the man of the match last week and has a vote lead over backup ruck Max Heath who didn't play this week and 5 votes over former Saint Jack Steele. Who gets the votes in this weeks shortened match win over the Tigers? Your votes please. 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 & 1.

It's Game Day and the 2026 AFL Premiership season is almost upon us as the Demons take to the field for their final practice match before the first ball is kicked in anger in 16 days time. What are you expecting to see from the Dees today as they take on the Tigers at Mars Stadium in Ballarat?
