And here I was thinking today couldn’t get any worse.

They just got on one of those roles (the Hawkins off the ground, the Cameron on the line, the ball bouncing forward for them out of the centre).

I just want our boys to show what they can do. We aren’t 7 goals worse than this mob. We just need to stick together and support each other, and play our style.

Go the Dees!

Anyone who thinks SPARGO is up to it is on drugs shocking!

Yet we somehow lead in. inside 50s 30 - 27 ..... but no structure.

Getting slaughtered in the middle. Leave Dogga in the ruck. Play Max forward. Move Tmac wing. More pressure on their mids

Was Clarry playing Q2?

One word. Uncompetitive when the finals heat comes on, and this IS a final. So much promise, so much hope, and bang. 7 goals in 10 minutes. That’s not just a fraudulent defence, that’s a contested embarrassment. In all honesty, who here thinks we can win the flag? And how?

Zero chance

Out in straight sets I reckon! No response tonight is telling!

The only comfort I'm taking is that the light is off us for now. Let Geelong, Port, Brisbane and co have it. If having this crap happen now means it not happening next week then so be it.

Going to Port isn't the worst thing in the world. Would give us the best chance to be battle hardened and my word if we do it over there we can do it anywhere.

well that was a woeful quarter.  take oliver out of the picture we fall apart, especially with Petracca being held. too many passengers, we cannot handle their short game and our kicking efficiency sucks big

That was interesting for a while but its a long way to a flag now.

Im sick of playing cats at kardinia but playing like this i guess it doesnt matter.

Typical Melbourne, all season we have sat on top and in the final game we will butcher a chance to play a home final somewhere, instead we will have to travel to Adelaide to play port in front of there fans.

So the non-call deliberate against Adelaide has cost us top spot and a 'home' final.

This is why we need more quality midfielders. After Oliver and Petracca it's slim pickings with Harmes Sparrow and Viney all having significant flaws.

Can't expect Oliver and Petrecca to dominate all games all season long, and when their output drops its noticeable.

We've covered for this by having an amazing defence, which works against lesser teams, but it's going to be found out in the finals and now.

I don't know which is more embarrassing. That first half performance or some of the posts in this thread

the good news is that we won't see geelong again before the prelim and it's our choice of venue.

The smart coaching move here is to experiment but are we smart.

By the way the code for experiment is to protect the team's pshyce from a thrashing

Yes it is they are pumped

This is what happens time and time again. We put all our expectations on the Melbourne football club. They let us down. We will start all over again and again. They will let us down again and again.

I’m confident we will step up in the second half. We have stepped up all season when questions have been so I’m confident we will again. Result doesn’t matter at this stage but we need some sort of form to head into next week with. We can’t be as bad second half. Cmon dees

think some supporters need to cool their jets here. We ain’t winning 7 in a row to win the flag. A tune up here and beat Port at home isn’t too bad. We haven’t lost twice in a row all year and there’s no way we’re losing 3 in a row.

I need to be comforted by Jacqui Felgate, regardless of who she follows......

I'd go for the posts. The willful abuse of some of the players in this thread is just depressing.

Understatement of the season.

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
