Ā West was won.

We went up against a side which was playing for a spot in the 8.Ā  We were belting them, until the weather intervened.Ā  Once again, the umpiring was atrocious.Ā  I'll take a win the West anytime.

VDB - Worse than Fritsch

Umps - Played for Eagles

Absolutely nailed itĀ

How does Vandenburg get chance after chance. Was slow and dumb and missed two definite shots that should have been kickedĀ

I think this is your best work Joeboy, that said, a touch understated on Bowey & Petty who I thought wereĀ outstanding.

James Harmes! A bit more humble pie as a late night snack for several Demonlanders, who wanted him banished. You know who you are.

Ā Bit harsh imo , guy got hurt in the first ten minutes.Ā
Speedy recovery Hunty.

Hunt - Taylor calls Langdon

...and the camera is right on his face as he's getting his ankle checked by the physio on the boundary line.

To be fair he couldn't see his number.

Also says gawn will struggle withĀ tbe distance from 45 metres.Ā

The bloke is just about theĀ longest kick in tbe team!

Petty doesnt do much wrong. Very good player as is Bowser whoĀ will be the most inexperienced player to play in a Demon premiership in at least 60 years.

Ā

Enjoy the next 6 weeks fellas.Ā

TV commentators are dckheads mate. Amateurs.Ā  One of the clowns was going on about how Melk cracks in week in week out.Ā  I mean do some research. Every part of that sentence is wrong.

Ā

Sidenote: Melksham always plays well after a spell and then fades after a month or so.

Ā

Double sidenote: VDB is pretty ordinary and Sparrow is solid, iĀ like him.

I agree on Gawn but Rivers can kick it post high from 50m out and go 20m into the stands. I'd back him to be the longest kick at the club.

Umps hate Melbourne

Thid state of affairs has become so very obvious. What can we do about it? It may not be hatred from the umpires, but it is condoned, approved, never questioned by the AFL and its glorious myth of an equal playing field - highighted by an abnormal free kick differential between sides playing the one game of football, week in and week out.

In the Dees' case, any progressive movement of the ball is interrupted and directly interfered with in a very arbitrary manner where the consistent application of 'rules' and 'interpretations' is grossly prejudicial and arbitrary to their continuing disadvantage.

It is time for Pert to directly question the AFL itself with mounting evidence of such flagrant abuse. There is a template for the detriment of the MFC in the approaching finals - well rehearsed and grossly invalid - but no-one seems to care.

Fritta to rest / be managed due to all the head bashing he received from the Eagles. Replace with JSmith.Ā

Gawn swings his foot and leg in an arc to the left when kicking for goal. He should lead his kicking action from the knee with a bent leg and smoothly extend the knee joint when making contact with the ball.Ā

  • REPORT: Brisbane

ā€œMax Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.ā€ - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasn’t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.

Just a game and percentage outside the Top 8, the Demons return to Melbourne to face the Sydney Swans at the MCG, with a golden opportunity to build on the momentum from toppling the reigning premiers on their own turf. Who comes in, and who makes way?
