To be fair, the MFC also had the most enrolled servicemen of all clubs in the league.

They’re sitting on 10 wins for the season. They really are a bunch of soft, whiny bandwagon supporters.

You'd never see comments like that from Melbourne supporters if we'd won half our games *cough* 2020 *cough*

Back when there was 6-8 teams and you could (in the early early days) have the right to challenge a GF winner to a rematch if you lost as the reigning premiere.

There was also a little thing called WW2 in the midst of that!

There were 12 teams and we never won a premiership under the challenge rules - that changed in 1931 AFTER Collingwood's four-peat.

10 flags in 25 years.

If anything WW2 cost us more flags as we had the most amount of players join the armed services.

Such a huge game.

Win and its top four.

There were 12 teams and you had to make top 4, so taking the WW2 interruption into account, it’s an even more impressive record

Gee the way they carry on after a few bad games and a premiership merely three years ago you'd think they hadn't won a flag in almost 60 years.

There’s no other supporter base anything like them. They are full of self entitlement and believe the world is against them.

A lot of their fans have absolutely no idea about the game. One thing I will give the Dockers fans is that generally they have an understanding of the game with so many of them coming from East and South Freo in the WAFL days

Personally I am hoping 2018 PF still burns and that the club has had this one pencilled in all year. This is the one I want more than any other in the H+A season. This gets us 2nd or 3rd and the perfect drop into the finals. (Adelaide etc)

Everything, as you'd expect.

Dead set I reckon WCE fans are the dumbest in the league.  They could have a score review for Kennedy kick on goal, it could smash the post and go off at right angles and they'd still BOOOOOOOOOOOO!!

One sook I found particularly amusing was extremely upset with the "lop sided" 5-8 free kick count in the 3rd quarter which cost them the game.

I pointed out the 6-3 frees in the first to them, 8-3 in the second to them and 9-2 in the last to them, but they were "all there" and I am "obviously blind and know nothing about football"

🤣 🤣🤣

Sorry if I missed someone already explaining it, but does anyone know why the West Coast supporters were booing at the end of the game?

Can't be umpiring - the final count was 28-17 and the string of frees after the reset helped enormously (cough... Melksham... cough... no finals for you)

Can't be because the team disappointed them; they gave a good fight against the top team for most of the game and that post-reset surge was alarming.

Are that just that sulky? Did they see a cloud that looked like it was asserting Indigenous pride?

Ask them if they think maxy should have got a free late in the last quarter when i think Darling (maybe Kennedy?) shoved him full force in the back with two hands and marked it.

It drives me nuts how few frees maxy gets. Every game he is blocked, scragged, hit in the head, shoved in he back and yet barely gets any frees.

And then my head explodes when they pull one out of their posterior agianst him. Like the free nick Nat got for too high in a ruck contest.  Technically there, but please, pay that and pay max 25 frees  a game for being wrestled out of ruck contests.

The booing at the end of the game was classic Eagles supporters. Won the frees by a mile, even got a halt in play to reset and restructure (after they showed nothing in the first 5 minutes of the last quarter). Not enough for them.

They was robbed! 😩

My best guess was they were booing umpires for not giving them a 50 against Petty.

I thought that was a pretty bad non-decision late in the game, but certainly didn't cost them the game.

There was an incident where the ball was not returned on the full to a Melbourne player after a free had been paid - no fifty

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
