Well the good news out of today is that it's now not possible for the Demons to finish lower than 6th.

Just FFS keep winning and we will be top 2.

So sick of depending on other results - have put up with this for nigh on 60 years.

Was just a statement of fact Mono, not a wish!

Hawks may do us a favour. Would be a perfect Sunday if top 4 was close to locked in

Hawthorn leading Brisbane by 30 halfway through the second.

Remember, if Brisbane lose even once for the rest of the year, we only need one more win to ensure they cannot pass us.

So if they drop this game and Essendon can get up over Sydney (I can't see either happening but still), then one more win will lock us into top 4.

Hawks are a real chance in this game. Playing well and managed to hold their quarter time lead kicking into the breeze. the Lions have their work cut out for them in the 2nd half

Not a bad effort, six minutes into the game and already TWSNBN getting frees no other team gets. Illegal disposal decisions, favourable angle kicking for goal. You name it they get it.

Hawthorn, Essendon and Giants wins would be nice to round out the weekend.

Hawthorn 6 goals up middle of the 3rd qtr is huge for our top 4 chances.

Remember that time we drew against them, and it was a pathetic effort??

Lions have lost to 10th, 13th and now down by 40 to 17th in the last four weeks. What a funny game football is.

Lol, not even a crowd a the game and Essendon supporters still going berserk.

I checked in on twitter just now and 'Razor Ray' has been trending for the last 30 minutes and it is just Essendon supporters telling him to 'eat a D', 'Gagf', 'and his mother', etc etc etc.

Hilarious.

It suits Melbourne for Essendon to win, but I hope it only happens because of a really bad free kick in the dying seconds. That'll confuse them.

Cmon hawks and dons!!! ([censored] I feel dirty)

Not quite. Need the Swans to lose as well. If they do we'll be 2.5 games clear in Top 4

They beat us by showing pride and being more desperate to win than we were. Something we really have never done against a top team when we've been down the bottom.

How they are winning any games with their deplorable list is beyond me. Just an out and out competitive culture. We should still be aspiring to become as good a club as they are.

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
