Is 19 tackles inside 50 a record for us? Well done, Redlegs. We forced the game on our terms constantly and Brown’s inclusion despite not kicking one, had a brilliant flow on effect to the rest of the forwardline. It wasn't a perfect game from Ben as he was pushed under it a few times, but I thought for the most part he was outstanding.

Petracca probably could/should have kicked 5. Ended up being a mammoth game. Max's best game in the ruck all season IMO. Oliver was brilliant too. McDonald was clutch and put everything together tonight. Petty, May and Lever were terrific. Viney's pressure was up, but his decision making and ball use too many times is a real liability IMV. Harmes improved as the game went on but he is another Viney.

I think we need to persist with Viney and Harmes in the team together, because if they click, our midfield is going to be unstoppable.

I was confident going into tonight and I'm glad I was right. A massive massive win. Let's hope the Bulldogs and Geelong slip up this week.

he had 33 touches? lol

Viney got destroyed

Wines just didn't have anyone else to give it to

Ok so now I’m convinced you are not a MFC supporter and should just disappear

There isnt a man I'd rather have defending down back than michael hibberd. The pig had some monumental defensive efforts throughout, flies under the recognition radar at times but absolutely love what he brings week in week out.

We won because we brought the pressure. Viney 10 tackles.

And he covered the most distance for us tonight, thought Viney was tenacious all night and moved a lot better Polly.

Viney did a good job, Wines didn't have near the impact he has had in games. it's a good role that suits him, and the midfield overall seems to have functioned really well tonight.

18 clearances between Oliver and Petracca is ridiculous.

James Jordan is nearly the best tackler i've seen i reckon.

Trent Rivers is a ripper, he's so brave in the air, probably doesn't get the hype of Jackson and Pickett but gee he's going to be a very good player

Geez Brayshaw is going to have a shiner in the morning, he played with one eye in the second half!.

If that’s true, it was the best monocular half in history. He was enormous, and clearly loving his footy. Well done, Gus.

All the journos in Adelaide look so plain.

If I saw them in the street Id have thought they were just regular guys with regular jobs

Brown gonna be bloody good once he builds into things for a few weeks. His touches were all class. Got out marked a few times but we kicked it over his head a bit, too...

Bradshaw was amazing. Defensive, rebounding and so solid. On the other side, we had langom who pressed for goals. But overall, Oliver was nuts. Set so much up. old dee, dr Dre- maybe time to follow Italy.

Names people!! Get the names right!

I mean, who the hell is ‘Oliver’??

I love Clarry, but seriously he would have to be about the worst set shot for goal we have.  Just about the last bloke I'd want to kick for goal in a klinch moment.  He use to be all right.  I don't know what's happened here.  Just hope his saving up the one he actually kicks to win is a big final or something.

I think the Adelaide journos were good in the after match. MR was asking some intelligent questions.

His best mark wasn’t paid, either. I almost popped a foofer valve at that point.

100% agree re JJ's tackling, they're bang on, and I've noticed his handballing is decisive and accurate.  Good long kick on him too.

Interesting post-game hearing Gawn pretty much saying they'd done some heavy training around the bye, but more importantly hearing him talk about Kozzy and how he hasn't been able to see his family at a time where it would be really important was a really telling moment of his care for the group and maybe something not many supporters have thought about when looking at his form onfield.

It was great wasn’t it? He spoke with real care about him and I think it showed terrific leadership.

I actually thought when Gawn took a clutch mark early in the last and kicked it perfectly to TMac, who also took a great mark, that we have some real on field leaders this year. They do the hard things when it matters.

Steven Smith wore No.35, did he not? Memory is cloudy ... He was a great backman, too.

Good: Kozzie is back. Petty was great. TMac brilliant. Fritta's goal. May unstoppable. Petracca 3 votes. 22 contributors, Port were helpless going forward.

Bad: Fumbling from ANB. Harmes' dumb free kicks and giving first option, some of Langdon's kicking.

Ugly: The umpiring.

Not sure I’ve seen him make a mistake all season. An outright gun, and a pure coach’s dream.

Great win proved that we aren't pretenders. We will definitely challenge for the flag. Big Ben Brown back was huge really straightened us up. Our defense was brilliant again. Petty's best game for the club. Kossie back to his best Petracca brilliant what's not to like. Big game next week really got to take a bottom team to the sword we haven't been able to do it at all this year hopefully we have learned from our mistakes. The future is looking bright.

Ripper match. Port had the rub of the green but were pretty good nonetheless. Awesome footy. Another contender dealt with. Haven't read the thread but looking forward to hearing that Ben Brown should be dropped due to a score-sheet donut. That is by far our best forward set-up in my opinion, may it last.

One issue: surely the original intent of the holding-the-man and push-in-the back rules are to prevent interference off the ball when the opponent is still in the contest, rather than to penalise players who tackle someone who drops the ball in the tackle or otherwise drops their knees and gets ridden into the ground?

Btw, did anyone notice that Steve was slurring his speech a little in the post game interview, late concussion or was it just a shït microphone set up?

Would love to borrow Spargo’s brain occasionally to get me out of a pickle with the lovely wife.

His manoeuvre in and out of about 5 Port players and kick to an open Langdon on the outer wing in the last to set up a goal was sublime.

I was going to bring this play up myself. The way he split that pack and hit Langers on the chest in such little time was for me, one of the highlights of the match. He cant kick 50m to save himself but his vision is outstanding.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
