Performance of the season.

We might have won either way, but Luke Jackson's genius tap to Trac in the third quarter was the moment of the match. ANB hits TMac on the chest and it was all Demons from there.

Am I the only one to notice they took ages to play our song after the win and only played it once? Even the DJ is salty that they lost by the look of it

How good it feels to get back to our best.

Let's get the negative out of the way - 4.10 in the second half. Could, and should, have won by 50+.

But we won four quarters. IMO we won it most in the third quarter. They lifted but despite dominating time in forward half for the first 20 minutes, we only conceded two goals, and then scored two of our own, was huge. We kept them to their second lowest score for the season, their lowest score at home, and their fewest number of scoring shots for the season.

For mine, Brown made us better. Didn't kick a goal but released TMac. Small forwards lifted too - Pickett 9 tackles to go with his 3 goals, Spargo I felt played better than he had for a month.

Petracca's first 5 or so kicks were turnovers but he was otherwise incredible, Oliver's first half set us up, Gawn was dominant in the ruck, and again May and Lever were superb.

Shout out too to James Jordon, I really loved his game tonight. Gut running, composure, felt like he was 5 years more senior than he actually is.

We're now two games and 10% clear of Port Adelaide in 5th. We've beaten everyone in the 8 except West Coast who we haven't played.

Now to sit back and enjoy the (long) weekend!

Got down and dirtier tonight in the contest and finally got some goal spread.

The pressure was way up from the start and none of this loose forwad half zone nonsense allowing umpteen uncontested marks as the opp works its way easily up the field to preferred launching places into 50 on multiple occasions.

Some solid games from plenty but also a couple of fellas well off their best so plenty of room for improvement.

Best Top 8 bullies in the league!!

Port haven't beaten a side in the 8 and they sure looked like it tonight. Challenged us once to get within 10 points but we responded appropriately after that. After the last month that's a very handy win away from home.

BBB has to stay in the side, our structure held up so much better.

Absolutely.  He contributed significantly throughout, and freed up TMac etc.

Hibberd in the last quarter, Petty in the first half and the ability of all the boys to turn a 50/50 off the half back into a genuine forward thrust, what a great performance. Go dees.

We were fantastic. The intensity, the skill, the teamwork. Proud night for the footy club.

But… i’m still in a bit of shock from that last quarter. Port literally tried nothing to win the game in the last. They didn’t take the game on at all, and they refused to go down the middle. It was bizarre. Why lose by 6 goals? Take it on. Strange.

Imagine if Goodwin played Lever down back for 4 minutes, then in the ruck, then tagging a defender then on the bench then in the ruck again for no reason at all.

Mind boggling. Leave him to intercept like he does best.

Completely agree. We looked dangerous up forward today. Imagine if we converted better. That will come in time.

Is that the first game this year we have won every quarter???

Go dees

I believe so.

We won three quarters and drew the fourth vs Carlton but I believe this is the first time we won all four quarters.

Yep it frees up Tmac and Fritsch. But it only works when our smalls apply pressure.

Excellent win. Prior to this match I was starting to feel a little concerned because of our poor performances over the past month, but this was the exact response that we needed. We were challenged in the third quarter but the fact that we didn't let Port Adelaide's momentum continue shows that we deserve to be considered grand final contenders. We have been extremely consistent against top 4 sides.

Petracca and Oliver were outstanding. Tmac is continuing his resurgence. Pickett finally retuned to the player he was early in the season. Our defence was unstoppable, as usual.

This win shows that we are not pretenders, after all.

I guess we can hold off calling Clarko to replace Goody for one more week. ?

Very pleased with that. ?

Eyes were down and entry was quick.

Port got few clean looks. Frontal pressure much better.

Ball movement was sensational and clearances were much improved. It’s amazing what you can do with your forward fifty delivery when they are originating from the centre square or wing compared to from deep in your defensive 50.

We’ve now shown we can win in an interstate fortress.

Lap it up kiddies.

Trac a career-high 174 ranking points tonight according to Fox Footy.  33 disposals, 3 goals. :-)

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
