Jack Riewoldt this week: “But good luck if you’re playing against us in the last seven weeks, wherever we sit on the ladder. We believe we’re a bloody good football side. We’ve played really poorly the last two weeks ... but good luck if you’re playing us in the last seven weeks.”

Lol I suppose this is all good luck to Collingwood?

I see Demonland has given us all a rocket.

I'm happy to have a rocket but I really don't want to relocate.

Mars ain't the kind of place to raise your kids.

Assuming Richmond and West Coast finish this round in the 8, here's the top 8's record vs the top 8:

  1. Melbourne - 6-0
  2. Sydney - 5-2
  3. Geelong - 5-3
  4. Bulldogs - 4-4
  5. Brisbane - 3-4
  6. West Coast - 2-4
  7. Port - 2-5
  8. Richmond - 1-6

Ok, updating this to swap Fremantle in for Richmond (West Coast can't drop out of the 8 unless they lose to North and shed 13%, so I feel pretty safe this time...):

  1. Melbourne - 6-0
  2. Bulldogs - 5-3
  3. Sydney - 4-3
  4. Geelong - 4-3
  5. Brisbane - 3-4
  6. West Coast - 2-4
  7. Port - 2-5
  8. Fremantle - 1-5

Great win to the Swans. They and the saints have done us a huge favour. Makes our win over Port doubly valuable.

Depends if you see us competing with the dogs for top 4 or top 2. Or if you prefer the Swans to be out of the equation for top 4. I would have preferred a dogs win. The swans have a fairly easy run home, could get to 15 wins

Thursday night Dees play great footy to win a big game.

Saturday - a full day slowly pottering in the garden followed by slow roasted lamb over a day-long fire pit, with a nice Barossa red. Saints beat the Lions. Watched all 3 sets of Barty playing the stick inset from Czech.

Sunday meal at Pratty's Patch celebrating 29 years of marriage. Bulldogs show their pressure weakness again and lose to the Swans. Tiges get done.

Feeling like a really smug b**tard tonight with the woodfire on and the Dees on top of the ladder. Look out Mrs Maldonboy!

The season is actually getting a lot more interesting. Usuallly at this time of year the 8 is set, but the Suns, Saints, bombers, Freo etc are all in form. No easy games.

thanks Christ we banked wins early

This is crazy, looking like six teams playing for the last two spots in the 8. Can’t see the Swans missing out now.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
