Who do you think England will bring into the team to replace Sterling?

Surely he's now on the plane to Tokyo to compete in the diving for England.

By default, it's Forza Azzurri! for me.

Ever since the dive that deprived the Socceroos of a spot in the semi-finals (or was it quarters?) at the World Cup, I cannot bring myself to support Italy.

Amen brother.

Not surprising [censored] England’s supporters are doing stupid things again. Some moron was shining a green laser on the Danish goal keepers face during the penalty shot by Kane as well as during the play that caused the penalty. Green laser is very powerful and can cause irreparable eye damage. That moron supporter should be locked up for 10 years after a jolly good flogging.

I saw the picture before I read the post. I thought it was fluoro green zinc cream on his face and wondered what sort of weather conditions the game was being played in. (Good practice for the World Cup in Qatar, I suppose.)

I’m supporting England because of my roots and since I’m living here, but a fair proportion of England football fans are genuinely the combination of the worst of Collingwood and Essendon fans. Arrogant but have done nothing in recent history, massive sooks when it all goes wrong, and will turn on their players and managers the moment they do something wrong. Zero class.

This doesn’t surprise me at all, and that [censored] should crawl back into his little hole and stay there.

That penalty to Mother England was a disgrace this morning, plus the Danish Goal ? Keeper having Lasers shone in his eyes!!!

Game should be replayed

The Danes have been treated like NZ 2 years ago

If that dive hadn't been paid as a penalty, the match would have ended in a draw. So, it would have been penalties. FWIW I'd back Italy to win a penalty shoot out every time. So I suspect that the Socceroos would have been knocked out in any event.

That's not to say that the dive wasnt a dog act, and the penalty decision wasn't shocking.

Round of 16 game going into Quarter Finals. And I blame Hiddink. He was overly defensive in tactics and substitutions once Italy were down to 10 men. Magical time though in Germany.

We scored 5 goals in the tournament and conceded 5. Not counting the Italy game, where we did not score. Hard to beat a team when you don't score. We did not have the firepower to win the tournament. We did well to get through the group stage having snatched victory from the jaws of defeat in the first match.

We got a good old fashioned football lesson by the hardened and experienced Italians. They showed how to win high stakes low scoring pressure cooker matches. We should have learned from that instead of whingeing for 15 years.

Wrong, that was a fair dinkum penalty, Neil threw his whole body low to take the ball but also collected Grossi legs forcing him to tumble over Neil. Not much different to the current AFL free kick rule of going low to take out an opponent legs even if going for the ball. It was a dumb clumsy desperate challenge that deserved a penalty. Neil should have remained on his feet if he was going to challenge. It was a painful to accept but a just decision.

Yet Plugger Mac conceded the free against the pear…

I used to obnoxiously sing 'It's coming home' when watching games at home with other Dees supporting friends in 2018, then the following year I saw this video on YouTube that someone put together...

I've known about the song since the 90s when I'd stay up to watch Baddiel and Skinner during the World Cup. I always used to the song to Melbourne as well! So glad theres others haha.

I thought the Danes were truly hard done by and I was watching ten pin bowling the way white shirts were falling over. But then no chance I can barrack for Italy. Apathetic about this sport when diving with no water can win you a trophy. Danes were playing like a team. And all the dog acts of the English towards Danish supporters, just feral, as bad as any Collingwood trash.

I'm delighted for Ash Barty. She's a little champion.

Her only flaw is she's a tiges supporter but then nobody is perfect

I have a concern with this post. Why isn't Carlton in there with Collingwood and Essendon?

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

Following an injury-interrupted start to the season, McVee struggled to maintain the standard he established in 2025 as he pursued an expanded role within the team structure. He remained a firm fan favourite and the club had hoped to negotiate a new contract with the former rookie selection from Western Australia, whose partner, Lily Johnson, plays for Melbourne's AFLW side. Those hopes were dashed when he expressed his desire to return to his home state and play for Fremantle. Like all players who have worn the red and blue and are leaving this year, we wish him well in the future.
