It feels like weeks since we played the dogs.  lockdown/homeschooling days age me considerably

50-50 game for me. The Lions are building over the past few years. They have a fwd that will test us more than any other with McStay, Hipwood, Daniher, Cameron, McCarthy, Bailey. It will be tough for Lever to stay loose

Mcluggage is a gun who I love watching. Aside from being a horrible kick for goal that is. We need to watch him closely

hopefully it is a final type contested game and we see our guns flex their muscles

i reckon we have them covered just and we will win in a cracker by 2 points. The Weed kicking one after the siren. Western Sydney will explode with excitement

Im waiting for kozzie to tear a game apart. He has the skills. He is a star in the making.

Maybe he will do it tonight.

Go Dees.

It's going to be wet.  It is going to be cold. Our seats won't be fully under cover and Giants Stadium gets it's own little wind swirl because of the open end. It'll be great.

I'm a bit excited.  The last time I was able to attend a Demon's game in person was 2016.

Paul Roos was coach, and Jack Watts had a great game even though his shoe kept falling off.

More than half the 22 out there tonight are 'new' since then.

Also a bonus that I'm now part of a fully vaccinated household so won't be quite so disturbed by the shoulder-to-shoulder seating.

Enjoy mate!

any idea how many could be there tonight?

Ticketmaster had very few seats still available as of last night so it would seem to be close to a full house. We'll see what that really means once the storm front comes in and all the soft Sydneysiders wimp out!

Really interesting game. Melb defensive system v's Bris attack.

Melb has only conceded more than  73 points once this season,  96 points to Adel being the outlier

Bris has kicked scores of 102, 103, 93, 95, 124, 102 and 129 the last 7 weeks.

If we can keep them below 80 points I reckon we'll win.

Eh, that is some serious firepower. What has been the differential, ie how many have they let through. All well and good to kick 102 but if you let 98 in...

Edit: from The Roar

Quote

For the Lions, they have been unstoppable over the last seven weeks, winning every game with an incredible percentage of 171.95, knocking off teams like Richmond, Port Adelaide, GWS and Essendon along the way.

Agree on last point. Reckon the back 6 are going to be hellbent on that. Lever took it as a personal affront that Adelaide scored so highly. Love it.

Shout out to all the DLers in Sydney who wouldn’t ordinarily have been attending tonight’s game. I’m happy for you guys. It’s easy for us Vics to forget how lucky we are as regards how often we get to watch our beloved Dees live.
Enjoy the match!! And maybe give an extra loud cheer on our behalf.
GO DEEEEES!!!

❤️?

Thank you WCW. It’s my first live game in years and taking my son. So looking forward to it.  Beautiful sunny morning here but bloody rain forecast for the evening. Won’t dampen my spirits though.

Go in underdogs again this week. I think we will give Brisbane a reality check tonight.

Go Dees.

Was his game against St Kilda or GWS not good enough?

They had no one who could stop him in both games..

Pointsbet Dees 1-100 win and Trac + goals paying 3-1.

Interesting to see what the bookmakers are marking some of the disposal and goal odds at. Oliver 1+ goal at 2.45 interesting.

Probably our toughest assignment to date. Richmond and Dogs were big games but played on grounds we are comfortable and familiar with. This is a different ball game.
I rate Brisbane as our equal. They are strong all over the field unlike the Dogs and can kick big scores. I’m not super confident and wouldn’t be surprised if we drop this one.
Should we lose, we will be pretty much back in the pack for top 4. Saving grace is Geelong play Port in Adelaide (probably) next week.

One thing is for sure, this should be a good game.

Love this. The first five words are absolute, followed by the next six which equivocate. So, Jaded, are you sure or not?

I expect it to be one of the best games of the season, and I don't mean one of the best that we've been involved in. I don't want it to be so, but I think Brisbane will win.

I cant find the stat ATM, but the Lions mostly get away to to great start in the 1st qtr. This is what the Dogs relied on last week as we had been seen as catching up during the games and our fitness outlasting oppositions, but we jumped them instead in the 1st which stuffed their tactics. So we need to stick with Brisbane in what may be an unbelievably torrid 1st quarter tonight.

McCluggage and Robinson are the 2 to stop in my opinion. They lift the others around them.

Rich is also an important play maker - Spargo to get up close and personal

One contest Im looking forward to is Angus vs Mitch. Angus is the new Vanders.

For Brisbane. 9 pt game for us!

I mean 8!

I'm in lockdown (out of work). It's bucketing down rain and I have nothing to do. Wish I could fast forward 9 hrs. Too early for the Balvenie unfortunately.

30% chance of showers, it's not going to bucket down.

Sorry to rain on your parade (chortle!), but the weather app is now saying that from 7pm onwards, there's a 70% to 80% chance of rain at Sydney Olympic Park.

Or is that just in S.A. ???

The Dees Squeeze will continue to live under the bright Friday Night Lights.????

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.
