The lack of pressure from the mids and high half forwards is the problem more than those missing from the backline.

Yes that too. But Crows have also gotten more goals from clearances. I don’t think we got our match ups right. May needs to play high on Walker.

It's half time. Take a chill pill. If we don't turn up in the 3rd quarter then I'll be worried. And then there's always the fourth.

Yep especially in our forward half.  Kozzie & Spargod rarely sighted.  Both having a mare need to get VERY busy in the second half.

Once again, Lever doesn’t take the simple first option and butchers it.

They're in his head today.

Getting beat on the outside back line seems to be not gelling tonight. Bombing ball into fwd 50. Just need to reset

Not enough our small forward pressure players:

Spargo

AnB

Pickett

Need a ton more from them.

It's the game we need to lose to beat the doggies next week.

I'll show myself the door now.

Signing off for the night.

May be the slump we need to have. Can't see us beating Doggies on current form. It's all good.

Just remember how much this mob were up against Hawthorn some weeks ago and still ended up losing. Look at how Hawthorn have gone since too. It was level-ish at half time when we played Adelaide last season and we ended up flogging them (even though it wasn’t a real season). Let’s see how we adjust in the second half.

They are cutting up our zone

Their footskills having been really good for a bottom 6 side. Not allowing us to set up our defense.

Delilah?

If there's any consolation, we played like rubbish in the first half and are level...

Were we too confident dropping Brown?

The bombing inside 50 in good weather would actually suit him. He has a great reach.

I don't think may has been all that great today either. Dropped a sitter not manning up properly and not being as reliable today

the problem is starting in the middle Our pressure just isn't there. We need to lift because we've allowed the Crows to play their game, they're now up and about and full of confidence.

We do like a challenge but if you keep tempting fate eventually you'll come undone.

100% Some of their youngsters coming through are really good kicks. If the ball is coming through that quick no defence will stop it.

Considering Adelaide's transition and pace, I think it was the right call. Brown's defensive deficiencies are no secret.

That didn’t end well, either. ?

Yep missing Salems coolness in defense

Reset

Still waiting for that 10 min burst where we put on 4 goals.....

Well win.

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
