Could Christianā€™s consistent inconsistency be merely due to his undeniable incompetence, or does it suggest the possibility of serious underlying ā€œagendasā€ at the highest levels?

Seriously, how could he possibly condone / ignore Ā Rampeā€™s highly dangerous sling on Langdon, then ping this?? Ā Incompetence alone, even gross incompetence,Ā cannot explain it.

I believe itā€™s not incompetence but maybe too much work for one person alone to tackle. Like he has to review in detail 9 games a weekend in minute detail and make decisions before Tuesday. Serious high profileĀ incidentsĀ are Ā noted quicklyĀ and boughtĀ Ā to his attention.Ā Others like the Langdon dumping appear on social media maybe a couple days after the incident. He needs some help.Ā

The Langdon incident, is shown quite clearly, on the replay.

Holy cow, how does that constitute $3kĀ ($2k with an early plea)? Barely any force behind it at all, I'd even question if at actually made a forceful contact! FMDĀ

Could have broken a rib. Fair enough, very clumsy.

We will keep the squirrel tackle locked away until GF day then?

I alwaysĀ thought going from a MRP to a MRO was a backwards step. Look at the history of autocracy. *cough* Kim Jong-Un *cough*

You two should be fined, let's sayĀ $3,000 or $2,000 with a guilty plea.Ā

As to the incident itself, I've watched that clip 10 times and am still looking for the evidence of a crime.Ā I assume there must be another angle that Michael Christian has seen which shows the incident more clearly.

Meanwhile, Riewoldt gets away with not one but two instances of using studs up, kicking his opponent underneath the ball.

Christian really is an inept imbecile.

Totally agree, Riewoldt is over the hill, and should be ( i don't care who reads this)Ā dropped soon to make way for their good young FF in the VFL.

The AFL should be remindedĀ of their position in regard to Power House Clubs receiving considerations, as in the past.

Maybe now is the "times" for Clubs with the name Melbourne in their title instead of Long and Don and Wood...

Iā€™m gonna appeal that. Iā€™ll use the guy that represented Fritta. Should be all good. ?Ā

Say what you like but the inept fools in the AFL are running anĀ extortion racket . Pay thousands or plead guilty and pay less.AppealĀ  soĀ give us 10,000.Ā

It was there and worthy of a mention/fine but Mumford's knee on Merrett the week before was a lot worse and not even looked at.

If they've decided to crack down on this stuff from now, that's fine but there needs to be transparency. Let the fans/players know at the start of the round.

Watch the overlay box that appears in the bottom right corner. Drops his knee into Plowman - not much in it but didn't need to do it.

Thanks. Even after 10 viewings I hadn't even noticed that box until you brought it to my attention!

It was almost like he lost his balance. There was no intent to hurt, there was no hurt.

It's rules one way, then not the other. If you injure a fellow player with what is considered an illegal or poorly judged act then you have to accept the consequences, so surely the opposite should be true. Nothing in it, no injury, no hurt, no reversal of the free to Kossie, play on.

And you can't compare it to Lynch who initiated the attack on his opponent, McDonald was sticking up for Kossie after Ploughman nearly took his neck off. Crude and violent poorly executed tackle. Even then he wouldn't get off or let go of Kossies jumper. If anything it could have been 50 metres but we haven't got to the round where they pay them yet.

You'd think the AFLPA has a role to play here with the reasonableness or not of the fines being issued.

Yes, I know the AFLPA has an important interest in protecting players bodies, but I feel as if the arbitrariness with which the AFL hands our these fines is disgraceful.Ā  And where does the fine money go?Ā  Should go into some kind of long term player welfare or charitable fund (perhaps it does and hence why the AFLPA's lack of public criticism).

If I was a player, I'd be super [censored] about this issue.Ā  Yes they earn alotĀ but most of the only for a short time and $2k here and there would soon add up.Ā  Should also be based on % of player base salary so they hurt the Dusty and Co.s as much as a rookie.

About 2Ā weeks ago i rang several Sports Betting Organisations about having a small wager on said person for the BL.

Same organisations said they would look into it and get back. Time frame of this seems a tad coincidental especially if same person scores a few in earlier games.

Changes have since been made......

Tom Lynch did it and copped a fine, so can Tmac.

I wonder who brought it to Christian's attention then - cat have found it himself if he couldn't see the Langdon spear tackle off the ball. Ā Once again, evidence that there is an agenda driven by someone high up in AFL house.

Whilst mummy is a dog of a bloke and we all know he intentionally fell into the bombers player with his knee, its a completely different action to what Lynch/Tmac did

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the teamā€™s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourneā€™s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season.Ā There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight.Ā Since that game, the Demonsā€™ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where theyā€™ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ā€˜G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sundayā€™s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

The Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, falling to 0ā€“4 after a more spirited showing against the Cats at Kardinia Park. Despite the improved effort, they went down by 39 points, and the road ahead is looking increasingly grim.
