Luke Jackson - Rising Star nomination

Geez could he actually win the whole thing has been so consistent with no real stand outs in the field I wonder what his odds are

He's such a stalwart of the team now it's easy to forget he remains eligible for the Rising Star.  13 players have received multiple nominations over 2 years, 3 of them were Demons and one of them played today.

Without googling do you know who the previous Demons were?

I hope he doesn't get nominated and doesn't get a vote. Just quietly going about his business will do me just fine. The rising star is an award for bad teams.

He is a massive chance to win it. Getting significantly better each week. How about that leap!?

Jackson & Powell the only ones getting better each week. Neither have been nominated this year.

Reckon Gysberts may have been one

There's always exceptions to the rule. Stephenson won the whole thing too, fat lot of good it did him when his club was turfing him out the door. Well done on North picking him up by the way, he looks like a serious talent again.

He has everything.

Skills, tenacity, in the air and on the ground, calm decision making.

He is going to be a superstar.

Move over Bont.

Looked to move with confidence that I haven't seen from him before in that 3rd quarter

Since Selwood, Dan Hannebery, Daniel Rich, Dyson Heppell, Daniel Talia, Callum Mills and Jayden Stephenson have all played finals in their Rising Star winning year.

So a team with a Rising Star winner is more likely to be playing finals that year than not.

Some place-getters might want to mention their early success too!

He will win it. He hasn't got much to beat. How many games did Kossie play last year?

He’ll have to get in line behind 16 other Sydney players that haven’t got one yet.

Well, who have they played, only Geelong..

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
