What?

To go on top of his current contract, another 5 years would take him through to 2027 (where he would be turning 32 prior to the 2028 season).

5 years would be more than sufficient. As i doubt he'd be looking to start at another club at 32 years old and after 13 years with the Dees.

I don't know why people are concerned about length.

The only time you should be concerned about length is when your putting a contract to a player who is 28+.

Trac is 25? 7 years, sure why not. Covers his peak years and makes him the face of Melbourne.

My thoughts exactly. That is why I take no notice of such posts as I regard them as BS

Goodvibes should be Court-martialled and given 13 days in the Cooler, hey Dry

Exactly. If 31 year old Trac is battered and bruised and just limping through in his last couple of seasons, so what? It’ll still be money well spent.

I’d love to see him sign a long deal. Not because I’m worried about him leaving, because honestly why would he? Just because I love the willingness to commit. Hope this turns out to be true.

We have to offer Trac what ever he wants. Players of his ilk don’t grow on trees and we may not ever draft a player of his talent again.

However we must be of the understanding that we probably won’t be able to land a huge free agent in the next while and may see some our unsung players like an ANB seek a pay day elsewhere.

Lever, May, Gawn and BBB surely aren’t playing out of the goodness of their heart. And Oliver will be seeking $900K a year when he reaches free agency.

We need to re-sign Trac on big money and absolutely win a flag within 3 years.

7 news reporting an agreement is expected imminently, thought to be 7 years at $900K per season

Just saw the news on Seven. Trac wants to stay beyond 2022. Melbourne have to do the deal. Collingwood crying.

The 7 years is correct, however, the $900k per season is well off.

Thanks for your support dazzledavey36, as you know from past history, when I post a breaking story it is 100% factual.

Amazing!

Well I think we can say with certainty that the players love Goody.  Every single one of our stars has re-signed.

Is it at way under 900k or (as I suspect) way over?

can you provide more clarity beyond a vague post assuming people saw the story?

Pretty much exactly what the thread here last week said. Probably got his info from here

I don't think I am revealing too much by telling you it is significantly more than $900 per year.

Over. 1.1-1.2 million I suspect.

7 years is too long for any player IMO. So much can happen in that time. He’ll be 33 when that contract ends.

Good to see the clubs doing everything in its power to keep him though. All our stars are signing on. It’s a big shift from earlier in the decade where they would leave en masse!

7 news reporting a 7 year deal guesstimating at $900K per year is expected “imminently”

Mind you, it is Tom Browne

What a boring Tuesday night this is turning out to be.

I'm not a fan of long deals either but there are exceptions to every rule. Trac is a generational player so i can live with it.

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

Who would have imagined, when the season kicked off early last month, that Melbourne would emerge from the opening six weeks with wins over both Queensland powerhouses? At the time, Gold Coast and Brisbane were the competition’s early pace-setters, the flavours of the month, and the prospect of the Demons toppling both within the course of a fortnight seemed remote. Yet here they are, banking those scalps alongside home victories over two traditional Victorian rivals and building a quietly impressive resume.
