So who's nervous for next week?

No seriously tonight was just awesome. To hold Riewoldt goaless after the 5 minute mark of the 1st quarter was outstanding & to keep Lynch goaless all night was brilliant.

We kicked accurately & never let them back in it.

Only negative. Jones didn't kick a goal

Considering tipping us against Norf next week.

SO worth it: put $10 on and enjoy the princely sum of $10.10 returned. ?

We were in the top deck above Punt Rd goals. When coming down the stairwell on the way out, about 2000 people in the stairwell spontaneously  erupted into the Grand Old Flag song. It was joyous and awesome

Last time I bet on a game was when i put $200 on the Hawks to roll us.

We won for the first time in a decade.

As David King keep mentioning this week we still haven’t beaten anyone of note.

Well Mr David King. That is both the Grand Final teams we have beaten. Trust you now realise this team is a real threat.

I bet against the Dees every week, no matter who or where we play. And I’m thrilled to say that I have yet to collect a single cent this year!

It has taken some time but we are finally seeing the fruits of May & Lever with Tomlinson being the manure to make this defensive core blossom. So much confidence in the back six.

The rest up the ground is just party time.

Awesome call 3D, we are really well placed if Tomlinson can keep doing what he's doing, because he's been sensational.

Could the 2019 draft end up being our best ever, Jackson, Kossie and Rivers. That draft could set us up for a decade!

No

1. Tom Scully

2. Jack Trengove

3. Dustin Martin

How good is this?

Seriously, a team that play for each other and a structure that looks right now seriously [censored] good.

I love it.

Don’t judge it by the last quarter, we were spent and just killing time.

Watch the 2 middle quarters for some blistering demons football.

First 10 minutes aside, we absolutely controlled that game. After the fumbles in the first quarter, I packed my dacks when I saw the heavy rain at the start of the 2nd, but it was completely unfounded.

I’ve had too many drinks to post too much analysis, I’ll see you all in 12, actually maybe 24, hours.

Yeah that was epic.

They threw everything at us in the first 15 minutes. Most other sides in the comp would have folded. In any other year we probably would have folded. The way we steadied, didn't lose focus, and then turned the game completely around and bullied them for 3.5 quarters was remarkable.

Our forward half pressure was immense. They had a stack of inside 50s but they were repeatedly delivering it under our pressure, and with no structure forward of centre because they were sucked up the ground trying to move the ball through our defence.

Some will criticise by saying Richmond had two injuries. Reality is we were dominant when they had a full squad.

Salem was BOG and deserved the medal. Petracca was great though, Lever gave up that one goal in the fourth but was otherwise fantastic. ANB lifted on last week, TMac started slow but became a force as the game went on. Jackson's getting better every week.

Special mention to Hibberd for his incredible tagging job on Dusty and Tomlinson for being the rock that lets Lever and May do what they do.

And finally, congrats to Nathan Jones. Played a reasonably good game. Really wish Oliver had passed to him late in the fourth, but he got chaired off after one of our best wins since he started.

I felt like we were just trying to ice the clock in the last half of the last quarter.  Once Richmond missed a few in the start of the last and Kosi kicked that goal, it was all over and we just went defensive. Fair enough. We tackled like machines all game and were out on our feet. I know they were a man down in the end with Dusty out, but they had 3 extra days rest coming into this game. We were exhausted and played out of our skin for 3 quarters.

Oddly enough that game was the lowest my blood pressure has been all season. That’s how good it was

Just had to find our feet after the first 15 minutes. Our defence is unreal. Literally 3 of our 6 are AA material. Amazing instincts by our players at stoppages. Sloppy patches towards the end of the 3rd but huge plays time and time again after mistakes. T Mac and Jackson are absolute beasts. Just love these players really.

    HIGHLIGHTS/LOWLIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Melbourne traveled across the continent to take on the Fremantle Dockers in sweltering conditions at Mandurah south of Perth in a game that delivered the club both its highlight and its lowlight in the first minute.  But first, let’s start by doing away with the usual cliches used in connection with the game. It was just a practice match and the result didn’t matter. Bad kicking is bad football. The game was played in severe heat, the swirly breeze played havoc with both teams resulting in

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
