  • 3 Oliver
  • 2 O'Meara
  • 1 Lever

Just to try and see how the coaches rated the players compared with the Votes on here

Max   got both 5 votes

Salem must therefor have been given a 4 and a 3,

McDonald must then have the other 4,

One 3 left

one 2 and one 1

O'Meara got a 2

because Lever got 1

So either Petracca got a 3   and Oliver got a  2 and 1   or the other way round

Is that the way it was ?

Funny you should mention that, popped a little on him last night.

O'Meara 2 + 0

Lever 1 + 0

Wait, that sounds wrong.

Dees are the only club with 4 players on the leaderboard. Long time since we have seen that...

4 players in the top 14. Fantastic stuff.

No surprise Salems output is rated by the CA.

Love seeing Salem on that leaderboard. He's having a career best year. He's been a steady and reliable player in our side for the last five or so years, but it seems that he's finally taking the next step.

Having a brilliant year. Solid in defence! He’s taken 33 marks for the year which is 1 behind big Max! Only 1 other defender in the top 20  coaches votes.

Just interesting that both coaches saw Max as BOG  but both also had Salem up high in the best, some disparaging remarks on this site, Tmac getting a four,  might surprise.  and Lever only getting one vote  also a surprise.   well i thought he did well.

I think we all see what reinforces our beliefs, a bit like politics,  But coaches should know what they are doing.........

I’ve always thought that the coaches votes are the best indication of how the players went. They know better than the umpires and media. (And maybe better than we Demonlanders.) The  Brownlow has the prestige, but the AFLCA award is the real deal.

Unlikely.

Perhaps not as individuals, but there is some merit in the argument that as a group we are more often likely to be right than wrong.

Just Maybe?

````Unfortunately, Oliver and Petracca will 'take votes' from him and each other which makes it less likely that any of them will win it.
A good thing too. I don't want any of our players burdened with a Charlie around their neck going into the grand final.
Which is why it might be hard for Maxy to win a Brownlow - too much competition for votes in his own side.
Given their position on the ladder, surprising that Sydney doesn't have a player in the top 20.
And Josh Kelly no where to be seen!
    It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?
  • FEATURE: 1925
    A hundred years ago today, on 2 May 1925, Melbourne kicked off the new season with a 47 point victory over St Kilda to take top place on the VFL ladder after the opening round of the new season.  Top place was a relatively unknown position for the team then known as the “Fuchsias.” They had finished last in 1923 and rose by only one place in the following year although the final home and away round heralded a promise of things to come when they surprised the eventual premiers Essendon. That victory set the stage for more improvement and it came rapidly. In this series, I will tell the story of how the 1925 season unfolded for the Melbourne Football Club and how it made the VFL finals for the first time in a decade on the way to the ultimate triumph a year later.
