jnrmac 20,364 Posted April 12, 2021 Posted April 12, 2021 Not sure if it's been mentioned but we have won 6 on the trot as we won the final 2 games of last year... Not sure when that happened last... 2 Quote

titan_uranus 25,252 Posted April 12, 2021 Posted April 12, 2021 Wasn't sure where to put this but on On the Couch tonight they highlighted some stats: We are conceding scores from 30.6% of our opposition inside 50s, which is the best percentage ever recorded after four rounds We have six of the competition's top 21 pressure players (presumably this is measured by average pressure acts per game?) Our forward half pressure rating is the third highest rating by any club since 2013. 19 1 1 1 Quote

Could have given 6 to a few blokes, but from my vantage point Viney seemed in everything and the clincher was when he ran straight from the interchange and flew Superman style to spoil the ball in the last quarter. 7 Quote

I think that’s why I’m so pumped for this team, it feels like the system is sound and can be sustained. Not just a flash in the pan, but let’s see 3 Quote

Adam The God 30,715 Posted April 12, 2021 Posted April 12, 2021 Watching the replay currently. Couple of things. - Tomlinson played on Hawkins the entire game. His positioning the majority of the time was absolutely outstanding. Well done, Tommo. - our two way running in midfield is incredibly evident on replay. If our midfield keeps that up, we'll be hard to beat. - the way we're using our mids and rolling them backwards and forwards from half forward, into stoppages and out again. It keeps the opposition constantly guessing. Also, the make up of who we're sending in there isn't easy to predict. - the defensive work of our wingers in Langdon, Brayshaw and Jones was excellent. The amount of times Langdon or Brayshaw would drop back in the hole and then provide rebound. Beautiful. Gus is a very clever player and Langdon is the prototype winger. Knows how to hold width, get it on the outside or do the defensive work. - team orientation is marked. Well done again, Demons. 16 2 Quote

This week, he brought some dash, used the ball well but more importantly - as you say - he defended so well. If he can do that consistently, we've got a real weapon on our hands. To be fair to Jayden, he was actually a very good 1v1 defender in his very early career, but would often butcher the ball by foot. Now he's hitting targets and making the right decisions by hand too. If it's sustainable, look out. 2 Quote

It’s a write up in the Kerry sports hub commemorating the life and times of Sean Wight about a year or so ago. He was an accomplished gaelic footballer and is still a revered figure for his local club Listowel Emmetts (incidentally the same club Tadgh Kennelly hails from) https://kerrysportshub.ie/2020/03/21/sean-wright-the-forgotten-kerry-hero/ Was probably my favourite player of that era BDA. I used to chat to him a bit after training down at the Junction Oval, mostly about football and although he was a Celtic man he did go to Ibrox to see us beat Dundee 4-0 in a game on one of his end of season visits back to Glasgow so fair play to him. Not sure the umpires would have missed him though Langdon stood out all day We have what was called the Robbie Flower wing in the MCC side. Now IMO we have the Ed Langdon wing on the outer. He's permanently placed there, as said previously, because he never comes off so why have him near the bench. And to top off he wears the mighty Stan Alves No. 15. 1 Quote

Lucifers Hero 40,715 Posted April 12, 2021 Posted April 12, 2021 What is it with Goal of the Year this round? Whoever nominates them has a preoccupation with flukey, dribble kicks from the boundary - one of the three nominees was even described as an accident by the commentators. Meanwhile, Max roosts one from the center square at a critical time of the game and crickets! 2 Quote
