Are they ever going to get rid of physical membership cards and be only mobile phone ones? I know they are encouraging members to do so by offering benefits. I’m wondering how long until it doesn’t become an option. I really like having a membership card and lanyard and being able to wear it with pride, letting everyone see I’m a member. I appreciate it’s more of an effort/cost to them, but I’d hate to see it go away

Plus, I don't reckon the mobile phone in the microwave would end well.

Can someone explain how the Saints have 54k members this year and we’re only on 46k? We’ve had a higher tally them then the last few years (9k more in 2019), yet, there they are sitting 14th on the ladder or something with 8k more members than us?

Because every SMJFL player has the option to add a free 3 game St Kilda membership to their playing registration. I get one for my son each year so that I can compare their communications with members to what MFC members get.

Bought a bottle of wine at the Hugh Trumble last Sat night. $51.00.

Depends what wine it was!!

Reputable or a lower popular label being slightly/ openly upgraded in price.

You don't get any decent wine at a licensed club  or restaurant For less than $40 I would testify.

Interestingly  glass of wine in the Gabba Members Trust in Brisbane is between $10 or $11  and a medium style so much on a par.

Just remember MT 64 another 7/8 home games and 3 Finals  at $50 only means about $500 before our next FLAG.

Better get the price of the Best Sparkling  Wine for that last Sat in September!!!

It might be more civil in Hugh Trumble Cafe than the rollicking Bull Pit full of atmospheric charm and off the cuff singing!!

Trust me I will have spent a lot more than $500 before the next flag assuming it's this year. I shudder to think what the expenditure would be if it was next years flag. I have a 73' Grange waiting, if required, for the last Sat in September. Bubbles get up my nose.

A glass of Sav Blanc is $11 throughout the MCC so we seems to be on par with the Gabba.

Yes I have a couple of Chandons Sparkling plus a 10 yr Penfolds Bin 389 awaiting!

Lets hope we are in the position in September to choose!!

I am surprised that we haven’t passed our 2019 total, we are now a better and more mature side. Come on you true believers get on board.!!!!!!

All us true believers are no doubt already signed up but its surprising we haven't enticed more of the casual supporters to sign up considering how well the guys have been playing.

It is not easy to go BD. That and 50 years of failure is putting people off.

We MIGHT have a membership tent open this week.  Awaiting advice from AFL.

Ridiculous that they can't do this given you can go to Demon shop, crowd in, and purchase merchandise.  Or buy a hamburger from one of the pie carts outside, but you can't collect a scarf from the club at their stall.

There is a lot that is not logical George. To be honest in some areas I have given up. Paid my membership as last year and the game is now TV for me. I don't enjoy it any where near as much as going to a game but this is the game in 2021, thank God we are winning games or I might have retired.

Does anyone know how you can get the member thank you cheap donuts on Sunday by showing your membership card when you've opted for mobile membership and don't have a card?

The MFC Hub is open again from the Carlton game. Hopefully if COVID stays controlled it will stay open.

Still there Dr. we have not sold a membership in the last ten days. This club still has a lot to learn about arrogance and boasting!

I'm pretty sure it's just the website that hasn't been updated, they clearly would have sold at least one Membership in the last week and a bit.

I was joking Dr. We obviously are still short of staff.

Were they selling memberships outside the ground yesterday? They had a "Demon's Shop" open for scarf collection outside Gate 2 and at worse would they not be able to sell memberships in the Demon shop on Brunton Ave.

they had a separate queue marked membership so i presume they were selling memberships and handling other membership queries

So only 1188 for the last two weeks. I think the covid restrictions are having a large effect. Much over 50k seems a big ask.

Anyone know if the one off payment add on for a guaranteed GF ticket for Red & Blue members is still available or sold out ? (Not that I want to jinx us?)

  • NON-MFC: Round 12

Round 12 kicks off with the Brisbane hosting Essendon at the Gabba as the Lions aim to solidify their top-two position against an injury-hit Bombers side seeking to maintain momentum after a win over Richmond. On Friday night it's a blockbuster at the G as the Magpies look to extend their top of the table winning streak while the Hawks strive to bounce back from a couple of recent defeats and stay in contention for the Top 4. On Saturday the Suns, buoyed by 3 wins on the trot, face the Dockers in a clash crucial for both teams' aspirations this season. The Suns want to solidify their Top 4 standing whilst the Dockers will be desperate to break into the 8.

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The media has performed a complete reversal in its coverage of the Melbourne Football Club over the past month and a half. Having endured intense criticism from all quarters in the press, which continually identified new avenues for scrutiny of every aspect, both on and off the field, and prematurely speculated about the departures of coaches, players, officials, and various employees from a club that lost its first five matches and appeared out of finals contention, the narrative has suddenly shifted to one of unbridled optimism.  The Demons have won five of their last six matches, positioning themselves just one game (and a considerable amount of percentage) outside the top eight at the halfway mark of the season. They still trail the primary contenders and remain far from assured of a finals berth.

  • REPORT: Sydney

A few weeks ago, I visited a fellow Melbourne Football Club supporter in hospital, and our conversation inevitably shifted from his health diagnosis to the well-being of our football team. Like him, Melbourne had faced challenges in recent months, but an intervention - in his case, surgery, and in the team's case, a change in game style - had brought about much improvement.  The team's professionals had altered its game style from a pedestrian and slow-moving approach, which yielded an average of merely 60 points for five winless games, to a faster and more direct style. This shift led to three consecutive wins and a strong competitive effort in the fourth game, albeit with a tired finish against Hawthorn, a strong premiership contender.  As we discussed our team's recent health improvement, I shared my observations on the changes within the team, including the refreshed style, the introduction of new young talent, such as rising stars Caleb Windsor, Harvey Langford, and Xavier Lindsay, and the rebranding of Kozzy Pickett from a small forward to a midfield machine who can still get among the goals. I also highlighted the dominance of captain Max Gawn in the ruck and the resurgence in form in a big way of midfield superstars Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver.

The Demons controlled the contest from the outset, though inaccurate kicking kept the Swans in the game until half time. But after the break, Melbourne put on the jets and blew Sydney away and the demolition job was complete.
