OD, so much metaphor(?) in so little time

I am positive in most things but the MFC is a totally different kettle of fish.

There ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory is the thing we do first class.

Some never miss a chance to be first in with the gloomiest interpretation of anything.  I expect it is some sort of primitive magic where by stating the pessimistic view, it is hoped that will prevent it actually occurring.  Or maybe they are just genuine pessimists.

I am an optimist except when it comes to the MFC when I am more of a realist!

Funnily enough I'm the opposite. Generally considered a pessimist, but I'm an optimist when it comes to the MFC.

Why ? What is it that the  MFC does that makes you positive?

I vaguely remember that when he left it was family reasons, and therefor considered a private matter. I guess when you’re a football nothing is really private. I hope he and his family are ok during this tough time.

Would you prefer to be an optimist who is sometimes wrong, or a pessimist who is always right? ?

Think of the joy experienced by a pessimist when they are occasionally proven wrong.

Unfortunately the pessimist will say it won't last long or they will find something else to be pessimistic about.

When it's something over which you have no control - optimism is the only rational position.

To the optimist the glass is half full, to the pessimist the glass is half empty

To the MFc supporter there is another half a dozen glasses needed

Really sad about young Kozzy. Condolences to him and his family. As Richardson said, we are extremely lucky to have Mathew Whelan as a guide of support for Kozzy. The beauty about is that he's still training over there I'm guessing with a SANFL club.

Great opportunity for the likes of Bedford, Chandler to stand up.

Makes sense that there are rumours about offering Kobe Farmer a spot on our list.

Dazzle can you explain the link between Kossie being absent and the rumour of Kibe Farmer being offered a spot on the list?

Condolences to Kozzie and his family. Look forward to seeing him return once he’s ready and not a moment earlier.

@Dannyz mentioned on here that Kobe has been offered a spot on our list. Just pending an announcement soon.

Yes I know, but you seemed to link Kossie's situation with Kobe's possible promotion.  I don't get the connection and was wondering what it was.

Kozzy went up to SA about 2 weeks ago. It only came last week by Dannyz that it was pretty much a confirmation that Kobe has been offered a spot. Some people on here who have watched training would say that maybe Deakyn Smith was ahead of Farmer. But to Kobe's credit, he too has apparently trained extremely hard, and if he has made the squad, it'll be off the back of hard work.

Hearing Richo say that Pickett may not be due back to the club until March means he'll be away from the club for over a month. While I'm sure he'll be training with with WWT in the SANFL he'll still need a few weeks to catch up to AFL fitness. In fact I personally think this puts him in doubt for round 1. I'm sensitive to Pickett's current situation due to my current role working with a lot of indigenous family, and the mourning process can at times extend further after the initial funeral. I'm glad he's getting the right support and me personally hopes he takes all the time in the world before he feels comfortable coming back to Melbourne.

If Kobe's training form been strong as documented on here then I'm sure they'll look at him over the trial games etc, and who knows? Maybe he pushes his case for round 1?

In saying that though there has been no confirmation at all about Kobe, so it's all speculation.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
