I must be watching a different game to you because I think he's been exceptional so far. Biggest difference in change that I've noticed is he's not playing the rugby scrum style he's been doing the last few years. He's keeping it simple and playing a good selfless game and actually getting his teammates involved. His game against Richmond was the best he's played since 2018 finals. He's a huge loss and on the weekend it certainly showed. 8 1 Quote

Neither is sure why in the AFL a year is taken for granted. Other sports, 6 months. Very few other sports are "360 degree" sports like AFL Quote

That said I think between Hibberd, Petty and TMac we have options for covering him. Guess Daw as well, signed for Cover for a few key positions and we're currently without Hore/Tomlinson all season and Smith for another 8 or so, so Majak finds himself closer to the team as a defender than a forward. 3 Quote

dees189227 12,515 Posted May 3, 2021 Posted May 3, 2021 Bugger. I guess we all suspected it but it still disappoints you when it's confirmed. Poor Adam, I hope the boys get around him and lift his spirits. He knows this team is onto a good thing and npw he won't be a part of it. Look forward to having him back next year. 1 Quote
dazzledavey36 56,346 Posted May 3, 2021 Posted May 3, 2021 From an article on the MFC site - “Meanwhile, Richardson has provided an update on Jack Viney, who was a late out of Sunday’s game with a toe complaint. The 27-year-old will be sidelined for approximately two to three weeks, after reporting some lingering soreness in his toe. “Pleasingly there is no fracture and we have caught the hotspot in Jack’s toe extremely early,” Richardson said. “Jack will be on a modified training program for the next couple of weeks and we are confident that this is a minor setback for him. “We will monitor how Jack responds to the rehab plan with the aim for him to return in the next 2-3 weeks.” Quote

Boots, in my opinion would give more protection especially to the ankle. AFL players wear sprinting footwear. My guess is that their pace is not improved markedly. Quote
Sideshow Bob 2,498 Posted May 3, 2021 Posted May 3, 2021 If I was him at 28, in this squad in this year. I would roll the dice on a synthetic LARS ligament and potentially be back playing in 6 weeks. Rather than go traditional and be back next year. Can always go down that road if the LARS fails. 2 Quote

Too many foot issues happen nowadays Deef. We need to be proactive Jack Viney is going to have this problem for the rest of his career So how do we get the best out of him and minimise the time he spends on the sidelines? Quote

I would be very surprised if Darren Burgess hasn't considered this. He's the best in the business so surely something as obvious as customised footwear has not been over-looked. Looks like this hot spot was picked up as part of regular scanning which means a quicker recovery. I'm sure Burgo is keeping a close eye on Jack and will manage him in line with best practice. In Burgo I trust. Quote

There is no doubt he’s an important part of our team and we are worse off defensively in clearances when he isn’t playing. But he hasn’t had an injury free season for a long long time, and that doesn’t appear to be changing. It’s a real concern that he can’t get over the foot problems. ?we didn’t rush to give him 5 years, he was out on contract and being courted by other teams. The bloke has a 2 week injury, it’s not exactly a catastrophe. Quote

Bloke like Tommo here injured at a [censored] time when a deep finals run (in professional footy) it looking ominous. Mid forties lady who still wants to play with kids and go for the week at the snow but can't commit to 12 months rehab. Outside of those particular circumstances - would not touch it. Not saying he will or for his longer life physical health he shoould.... But deep runs at this level are why you play the game. I'd have a long hard look at the option in his shoes 1 Quote
