Said this before pre Brown and Weideman injury that I felt we still lacked depth in our forward department and was amazed we had not invited a Jackson Callow or Kaine Baldwin as a train on instead of Kobe Farmer and Deakyn Smith. Two big strong key forwards who are physically ready to go.

Callow invited to train with Hawthorn as of last week.

in fairness Brown, Weed, T Mac, M Brown, Petty, L Jackson (and maybe add in Tomo) is a fairly long list. unless you think the guys you mention above would be in the front of all those?

not saying it is a great list, but on paper we are not short of tall fwds

Yeah. The wind has firmly been knocked out of the optimism sail.

Jackson and Tmac have to step up. No other choice.

FFS! Not one bit excited about this season at all.

Already done with it. Weideman and now Brown.

Can't wait to have another pig headed moment and start Tmac on the wing and we go into Rd1 with another hopeless undersized fwd line.

“Following some soreness in his hip region, the medical team decided to conduct a scan, which has shown a stress fracture in his femur.

“We didn’t expect to find anything this substantial, but it’s better to get onto it now and prevent it from getting any worse.

“We will take a conservative approach and an exact return to play date will be determined by how Sam responds to the on-going rehab program.”

Doesn't sound good.

Didn't he have injury issues prior to being drafted - can't remember where.

Sam had hip issues two years ago which kept him out on and off for most of 2019 and he was in and out of the side.  Cost him confidence and form.

He had a very good 2018 but since then injuries have been a curse.

Petty is a defender and has been training down back all pre season.

Damn, it never rains but it pours on the injury front!

............. but hopefully Tom Mac,  'Tom' Petty and Jacko can make it rain goals, to compensate for BBB and Weid's crap luck.

This is fckd.

Stage set perfectly for TMac to redeem himself. Come on Tommy boy, we need you to come through for us.

That could change very quickly, I was wondering how they were going to fit him in down there.

He can be training up forward  on Friday DD if asked. He has been up forward you would know but many Dees fans believe he could play Forward also with success, asked on about 3/4 games in 2019 up forward. Your statement seems just like Goody's inflexibility which we don't need at our Club   especially when injuries are occurring in a major way.

Who Ben or Mitch?

Gotcha. Ben i meant. Forgot about the other brown

Now or never for tmac,  bad luck for weid starting to feels like he’s one of those players who never quite makes it

I'll take the glass half full approach.

Which is based on a glass half empty premise. Which is that i have to say i've lost faith in Weed.

He was rubbish last year. He had the perfect opportunity to stamp himself as the man down forward but the longer the season went the less interested he looked. He seemed to go to the Melksham school of tackling and half arsed effort.

When he began i saw him at practice match at the Holden centre and thought he looked a natural forward. But he doesn't seem as if he has really devloed his forard craft. And is too easliy pushed under the ball for mine.

So the glass half full is that Tmac plays deep -as he should have last year and LJ and Mitch Brown are the other key forwards. With Smith down there too flying at every height ball and generally going crazy. And together they rock

A T Mac, Mitch Brown and occasional Luke Jackson forward line in the first half of the season appears to be the best we've got in terms of the talls for the first 6-8 weeks.

Hopefully Fritsch can sneak under the oppo's radar and be the major goal kicker.

Kozzi is our only genuine small forward.

Melksham used to be handy but lost interest in football in 2019 after he busted his ankle on the Gold Coast.

Can anyone see us beating Geelong or Richmond with this kind of forward line? Lose both of them and there's no way we're finishing top 4.

Agreed. He was mostly rubbish last year.

He was good in 4 games last year but totally went missing in the last month when we really needed a key forward to stand up. For example he had 2 possessions and 0 marks in one of the Cairns debacles.

Petty is actually a forward. but goodwin sees him as a defender. If Goodwin had a brain he'd move Petty forward now but he won't because he's literally the worst coach of the modern era

dude. you've lost the plot. top 4? how about making finals first. I see a 10-13 season coming with Goodwin at the helm
