It could be

1) that he is over here visiting his dad and the club has done the right thing by inviting a potential father/son draftee to train with us knowing that he is 99.5% certain to join Freo

2) he has flipped and chosen us which has blind sided freo

3) Freo have told him that they won't pick him. He hasn't set the world on fire recently playing for peel thunder colts.

I'm happy to sound dumb here, but he is eligible to be drafted this year isn't he?  Or is it 2021?

Yeah next year mate, alongside Taj Woewodin.

I’m sure the club would have an interested eye on Kobe. Once the kid compares our facilities to Freo’s I’m guessing he’ll stick with WA

But what's just around the corner?

While doing some sessions while not officially at the club so not using the AAMI Park facilities?

While I understand that training starts next week and will be at Casey for the next year, I’m unable to find where It has been announced by the club. Someone said Mahoney mentioned it in an interview but I can’t find where.

Can anyone point me to an announcement about this?

key-dates-for-melbourne-s-off-season

  • First-to-four-year players return to training: December 7 – 18
  • Main group returns to training: January 6

Not entirely sure but I think those dates are mandated by AFL/AFLPA.  Altho clubs would have players working on individual fitness programs months earlier

ps. Cute dog!

Thanks for that, LH. I was aware of the dates, but what I’m trying to find out is where someone from the club has said that our training will be based at Casey for the next 12 months, and not at AAMI.

And yes, he is cute...

I see.  Haven't seen anything official.

The closest 'official' thing I can think of is the ads for Development Coach, VFL Coach and the Volunteer Pathway all showed Casey as the location.

I thought the Wiz was living in Perth as well, if there's an opportunity to do this are we able to get him playing for either Casey or a Victorian TAC team? If he is interested in playing for the Dees then it would be good if he could have some kind of involvement in the club. That said I'd also be mindful of putting too much pressure on the kid, for me I felt taking Jesse away from his home environment a year early was a mistake for his mental wellbeing. Hopefully he's just enjoying getting to know some of the lads.

I think its been well documented for a number of years now that Wiz has been living in Melbourne for the past 5 years..

At last... the training protocols.....

"Clubs will be able to train without restriction when outdoors after players and officials underwent another round of COVID-19 testing on Thursday and Friday.

Industry sources said players would only be required to follow the rules imposed by their state governments when away from the club.

All officials and players will still need to be screened and temperature tested before entering the club, meetings held indoor will have their numbers limited and each session should be restricted to within an hour.

Testing is unlikely to occur weekly, but a COVID-19 compliance officer will still need to make risk assessments to determine how regularly particular individuals need to be tested."

    HIGHLIGHTS/LOWLIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Melbourne traveled across the continent to take on the Fremantle Dockers in sweltering conditions at Mandurah south of Perth in a game that delivered the club both its highlight and its lowlight in the first minute.  But first, let’s start by doing away with the usual cliches used in connection with the game. It was just a practice match and the result didn’t matter. Bad kicking is bad football. The game was played in severe heat, the swirly breeze played havoc with both teams resulting in

A couple of Demonland Trackwatchers headed down to Gosch's Paddock to bring you their observations from today's training session before the Demons head off to Perth for their final Practice Match. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Beautiful morning, not much wind, more than a couple of dozen spectators.  The players were up and about, boisterous and having fun. One of their last drills were three teams competing in a hard at it, handball game in a small area. Goody

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom
