Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

IMO spread out Club, AFL and MCC members to fill the ground. No GA.

But let's get to that point of safety first in March.

Five months away is a long time in covid era.

The amount of pelicans I've seen hanging out in close proximity without a mask in the last 24 hours says we'll have a third wave very soon if we're not careful.

I hope we get some crowds next year, but you can hardly devise a business plan for a football club around next year around crowds. I reckon you've got to work with the strong likelihood that there'll be no crowds and any gate receipts will be a bonus.

But, I guess we'll see.

Hopefully with such low active case numbers, and a far superior contact tracing, and still no international arrivals, we should avoid a third wave.

The other states opened up, and I highly doubt their residents are behaving any better than us, plus they don't wear masks, and they avoided a second wave.

The big difference is they have not been locked anywhere near the time we have. We say yesterday that people invaded Kmart at midnight. I have close to zero hope that melbournians will act as required. I.e. the stupid 20% who seem unable to modify there behaviour. Forgot to mention the ones who don’t think the virus exists in the first place.

I don't want to sound elitist ( even though I am ) but the base stupidity/gullibility of some people is simply incomprehensible.

No chance they have been behaving better than us. You only have to look at videos that have emerged throughout the year of pubs, clubs and other events going off in NSW, QLD and SA as if there was no such thing as COVID.

But they'll be quick to point out VIC people's poor and slack attitude to COVID when it's actually due to luck and good/bad management by the state governments.

Would love nothing more than to be at the G in round 1 supporting the boys on a beautiful March afternoon and then celebrating a win, after such a lousy footy year in 2020.

Interesting cultural comparison between Asia and Melbourne.

When the lockdown was lifted here in late May I went a few days later to the mall. It was deserted. Six months later things are still very slow at the food courts and markets.

Bars are still shut and are unlikely to open this year.

There has been a central government app since June which replaced the State based app. Scanning in is easy. Many places have these fancy thermometers that you just pass your hand over.

It's all a hassle and puts a dampener on life but it's okay. Masks in 34 degrees with high humidity can be a challenge. Most of the locals don't trust the reusable masks so it's all the medical masks. I have a wonderful collection of knockoff fashion masks...Burberry, Nike etc

Guess being a dual MCC/MFC membership means I've got a good chance at any ballot!

With restrictions and what not in place, could we see the MCC adopting seated areas where you can drink? THE DREAM?

I wonder if a premium membership holds more weight than a regular membership in any ballot.

Asking for a friend ...

Surely people with reserved seating at the MCG get first rights.

I would be SO annoyed if premium members don't get priority over say 3 game members. Common sense has to say that those who have paid the most, get first priority.

If capacity is at around 40,000 next season, there really won't be many members who will miss out anyway. Richmond will have far bigger issues with that.

Let's hope we can get back to the footy next year.

Last week 500 owners and trainers were originally allowed to go to the Cox plate and then that got cancelled due to public backlash so I have limited faith.

Victoria are still using fax machines in their contact tracing models and systems. They don't integrate with Victoria's "word leading" new IT platform

I started posting on Demonland over the merger debate in 1996 and I didn't use a pigeon or a fax Machine back then. It was all electronic, on a slow old modem.

Let's all hope we can get to the footy next year and the Dees win the premiership.

I'm more confident in the Dees than our states contact tracing.

A large story in today’s HUN about season 2021, quite a bit of discussing the various possibilities. However they are saying at this stage no one knows. Interesting that the Dogs chief discusses memberships for 2021 and he expects them to drop and how do they add value if you cannot go to games. Even with reduced numbers not all members would be able to get in.  The other thing that I thought interesting is the the size of the off field personnel numbers. It was said that this may be one of the good results of the virus. It was claimed that the FD staff numbers were approaching one person per player. FD numbers have exploded since 2000.

Auto renewal and apathy is their ally.

Without that the numbers would nosedive.

Exactly I am on that system so I have gone along like a good little martyr even though I have no intention of going to a game before a working vaccine is available. Being to high kill zone gives you a different attitude to risk. I have paid for membership for years as a charitable donation so I guess 2021 is no different to any other year in the last 10.

I've seen a grand total of four, that's right 4 masks since the WuFlu started, and 2 of them were the masks my wife a I wore to our Covid tests this week after catching a cold.

We work in the coal mines, and they take the contact tracing seriously here. That and closing the border to Dans disaster seems to have done the job.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
