Really tragic news for them, having been through this twice myself (well my wife) I know this happens so much more than is widely reported, so I respect how brave they were to put themselves in the spotlight and hope they are getting all the support they want and need.

Very sad to hear, been through this once ourselves a few years ago and I thought once was sad enough. At the time I felt a little numb and wasn’t sure how to handle it until I realised how hard it hit my wife. Just being there and supporting is all you can really do in tough times.

Best wishes to the Jones family.

Wow, you never know what people are going through do you? third in a row is so cruel.

hopefully cuddles from their two little ones are easing the pain a bit

It's a hidden epidemic. All the baby books talk about how great it is being a prospective parent (and it is), but 1 in 4 is very high. I have heard other figures before, eg 33%, but the exact number I'm not sure is known. The high rate of miscarriages is brushed under the carpet and not talked about. Put it into punting terms ... you'd keel over with joy if you could get a steady 1 in 4 on horses.

Very sad.

I am so happy they had the courage to talk about it. I only heard this statistic a few months ago and was shocked in 2 ways.

1) that the rate was so high

2) that i didn't know this already.

It must be a very hard thing to discuss personally but I am surprised that we as a community do not discuss it more openly.

Is this something we just don't openly discuss or am I just living under a rock?

No. But even 15% of "clinically recognised" pregnancies is high.

yes, very high. not the best of odds even though an improvement

100 years ago it was worse, for mother and infant.Hence the population today.

Love to the Jones family but life goes on for them.

It’s a very strange kind of grief.  In some ways you’re not sure if your entitled to grieve or if there are degrees to which your loss stacks up against that of others.  It’s strange that, to even someone who has gone through it twice in the last twelve months, that making your loss known to others is still somewhat taboo.

People are now staring to talk about it, and that’s a good thing.

I'm in the same boat, a good friend experienced it around May and I honestly didn't know how often it happened even as much as 3 months in. I can't even imagine.

Any studies to back that up?

This from a quick search, maybe you have other research:

"The annual incidence of registry-identified miscarriage has declined significantly between 1998 and 2016."

https://academic.oup.com/humrep/article/34/11/2120/5611272

Research? While 'epidemic' has probably been used a little freely here bing, your response is unnecessarily cynical and I reckon a tad heartless. Hidden, maybe, in that most people (blokes) don't choose to share this info with others. I never have and, given in your 'quick search', for whatever reason, you've gone all the way to Finland to downplay it's incidence, I wouldn't with chaps such as you.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
