Busslinger is a very good player

Hopefully we land a player at 17. We have the best young talent in the comp. It would be great to expand on that, and land that superstar at this pick. In a Covid year, I reckon it’s a great pick to have, in addition to our later picks. Club is so well positioned after 7-8 years of planning. Many of the lower rung sides are rightfully excited about having good early picks. But it’s one thing to have them, and another thing to get them right. Hopefully they don’t get them right, and we capitalize at 17.

Is there a problem with him?

He looks decent, just seems pretty slow.

Matt Roberts reminds me of Dyson Heppell.  He’s a midfielder but also an all rounder type.  Certainly talented and wouldn’t be a poor choice.  I thought Power would be his new home given they need to restock their midfield.  Not sure he’s what MFC would pick but given he’s been top 10 quality, if he was a slider then JT would have to consider.  I think we may hope for a Goater, Sinn or Sonsie if they slide through.   I think all will be gone imv and would be looking at Chesser or Wilmot for outside run and pace across wing/half back.

Horne-Francis is the most universally agreed Number 1 pick since Scully

Not sure about that, I think every club would've taken Walsh and Rowell, where as Daicos is absolutely right there with JHF. If they were both available it would be a really tricky choice. JHF probably gets the edge due to exposed senior form and more x factor. Still, North better man up and bid pick 1 on Daicos.

Yeah true

was a bit of a tongue in cheek comment re Scully

Read a bit about ruckman Josh Cripps, brother of Patrick. Havent seen much vision, but like the sound of him.

Is he an option for us? Anyone know of his draft range?

Ben Waterworth of Fox Sports with an article on the seven clubs that will play a major role at the AFL Draft in November.

Seven clubs are set to load up at the AFL draft. These young stars can fix their big issues

There’s something weird about the article.

Numerous draft prospects are mentioned in it but there’s one name conspicuously missing. Mac Andrew.

Why would that be?

Those 7 clubs dont need a high risk long term development player which is what Andrew is

They need on ballers with immediate impact

Andrew will be available late second round early third in my opinion due not to his qualities but more to do with club needs

This Ben Waterworth who put Andrew in his top 10?

Interesting that they have us taking Roberts at 17 but then follow that with Mitch Knevitt going to brisbane with much better stats and better write up than Roberts.

Was told in grand final week that the club have put a lot of time into Mitch Knevitt.

I don't follow the draft so i don't know anything about him but he's the only name I've had mentioned to me aside from Woewodin JNR.

If we draft him, I'd like to nominate "Evil" as his nickname.

Knevitt seems to be projected to go anywhere between picks 15-30 (such is the evenness of the middle parts of the first round onwards). He seems very much like a Goodwin/Taylor player. Big bodied inside mid, but apparently also quick.

Yes definitely will appeal given his size and pace.  Knevitt would probably appeal to the Cats at pick 22 if he lasted that long. It might be another chance for the Dees to get Chris Scott angry 🤣🤣🤣

I don't love that tape at all. Seems to rush a lot of his disposals and doesn't play with any power, he doesn't use his speed to take on tacklers and doesn't hold the ball to release runners. A couple of good quick handballs but a couple of panicked turnover ones too. More of a Setterfield or Cale Morton type from that viewing. At that size and athleticism there's plenty to work with but there's also a lot of work to do!

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
