Interesting what you find on Essendon bigfooty..

One of my friends knows a few fox footy commentators. There’s truth to the Oliver rumour. But it does look like Carlton are in the box seat for him.
Not sure how they’ll manage Williams, Oliver and Saad. In addition to all the players they’ve just re-signed, and no clarity on what the cap will be, so we’ll see how that goes.”

With a bit of follow up..

That he [Oliver] isn’t happy at the Dees and would be open to a trade.
Dees are apparently looking to get into the first round for draft picks. And would consider a deal (that was obviously good for them).
Viney, Brayshaw and Oliver were all options. But Oliver was the one more open to a move.”

IF (and it's BigFooty so it's a massive "if") we were to 1. Trade Oliver, AND 2. Do it to get into the first round this year, of all years, I reckon I'd just about pack it in.

Goody is in win now mode, we'd be trading our future picks for the next four years if we were allowed to, seems illogical

Clarry is not going anywhere, this is just more garbage by Sam Mclure to try and feel relevant.

Even if this was true why would you trade in a draft compromised year and while still under contract, he is only going to get better and be worth more in another 12 months plus is required if we want to improve next year, look no further than Cats trade for Kelly. Totally beside the fact he has only ever shown love for the club and team mates

What a ridiculous idea. If Oliver is traded to Carlscum, that will be it. We will forever be a feeder Club.
what a Crazy Idea....

He’s probably our best recruit for about 25 plus years, still with a huge ceiling, Already a  winner of 2 of our B&F’s, Coming into his full power. Ie The epitome of the future of the club. If we lost him  I might just pack it in too.

Demons need to sit down with Clarry like they did with Trac and sort  this out.

Tjis would be almost like Barassi switching Clubs and the draft does not Warrant the Abandoning  of 5 years of recruiting.

Cripps would be the only player I would trade fir Clarry  if this  was to eventuate.
Club has to stand up and see what Clarry has to say and solve.

Mahoney ( this season) and Goodwin ( at end of season) won't survive this If it happens. It will rip the heart out of the Club. Clarry has to realise that he is part of a team and not just an individual playing his game.

Nice to see you're giving Spargo plenty of time

Spargo deserves the time as he is a clever footballer who uses the ball and generally tackles well. Does need to be more consistent but I believe his upside is good enough in his 4 th year to give him this year to improve further.

10 disposals from him are more useful than the same fir Hannan AVB ANB ( different style of player admittedly ) and Bedford ( at this stage). Kossie is of course the pick of the smalls.

It might be a good idea if some posters just stopped every spreading rumor they come across, comes from a real reliable source, just another invisible internet site.

Rumors, spread by fools believed by idiots.

Totally agree.... Oliver is contracted to MFC and that's final... He is not going anywhere this year or next.. Get over it guys....

Interestingly, I have been keeping one eye on the Cripps situation for this very reason. For those who don’t know, Cripps partner has some serious health concerns and there is suggestions of heading home to WA to assist her.

If Cripps goes home, you can bet Carlton will have cash and will want the best ball winner they can find (Oliver)

If things go totally pear shaped and Clarry did walk, it would be him instigating it, not the MFC. It is not too hard to see that they could improve quite rapidly and accelerate past us. They have some elite big men and are not afraid to target big fish after years of picking up GWS off cuts.

Perhaps this is what prompted the panicked call to his management from Petracca?

If we all hope for changes in our midfield over the offseason to fix the balance and end up with 5 more years of Viney, but lose Clarry, I’m out. I can’t possibly accept that. I think we’ve all been a little concerned that missing finals could prompt a raid on our couple of top Enders.

This could be and likely is just be a beat up based on the McClure comments, or maybe Gary Lyon thinks we’d all be shocked if Brayshaw goes to Perth? I’d hardly call that a ‘bombshell’ though

Yes i am aware of Cripps partner situation, I believe she is battlibg some serious anxiety issues and is very homesick?.  Maybe that's what Garry Lyon is alluding too in terms of a trade bombshell going down.

It makes sense why Carlton are going hard for Oliver.

I think every team involved would be upset with that trade.

A Midfielder in his own class at a tender age  and is the engine room. A champion player for our club. You chase an Oliver and            of course why should anyone be surprised if a club asks the question.  He will always be  targeted by the top clubs.

To me it is all speculation and has a year on his contract run. i am sure the FD will deal with his next contract sooner rather than later..

Imo he seems happy enough and has the love of his mates and gives his all what more can you ask of him.   It is Oliver now next time it will be Petrac's turn   They are our future and  the club has a responsibility to make sure that they are in a good space.

Freo would be getting a 25 year old version of Fyfe, Carl replace Cripps with a younger version, and the MFC avoid the dreaded collection of pick 5-10s, and get an established gun of the competition for 3-5 years and a pick 8 or so for a decent kid. Not sure what better the club could do? Throw in Hogan? If it's picks, then Pick 8, future 8 and 22. Meh. Give me Fyfe for a few years and we might just have a premiership window that opens up for a few years. (With other obvious list improvements)

One of the gronky Facebook pages is reporting Oliver is disappointed with finishing 5th in the BnF and has therefore requested a trade.

Utter rubbish from the Member's End, but thought I'd put it out there anyway.

This is complete rubbish, as the rumour was around before the b&f

Can we seriously close this thread. Oliver is contracted and going nowhere.

I feel your frustration but there is a chance of him leaving, so this thread will continue for a long time unfortunately

There's no way Oliver will be traded even if he wants out.

He's contracted and we'll rightfully ask for the world (like Essendon did with Daniher) and Carlton will give us bugger all in return.

It's next year I'm worried about, particularly if we miss finals.

As for Oliver being rumored to be upset about his 5th place finish in the B&F, perhaps he should undertake a bit of self-analysis and remember those woeful and lazy kicks that creeped into his game this year. The Richmond loss comes to mind when we had a run on with 2 minutes left and there were numerous other examples that would've cost him a couple of places on the leader board.

I think this is the real worry. I honestly do believe there is some restless players who want success and Oliver and Trac i feel would be one of those players.

If we don't make finals next year then Oliver will have every right to explore his options and would think he could potentially leave.

  • NON-MFC: Round 07

Round 7 gets underway in iconic fashion with the traditional ANZAC Day blockbuster. The high-flying Magpies will be looking to solidify their spot atop the ladder, while the Bombers are desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top eight. Later that evening, Fremantle will be out to redeem themselves after a disappointing loss to the Demons, facing a hungry Adelaide side with eyes firmly set on breaking into the top four. Saturday serves up a triple-header of footy action. The Lions will be looking to consolidate their Top 2 spot as they head to Marvel Stadium to clash with the Saints. Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans. Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
