What does that mean?

Gus didn't strike me as the type to lose sleep at night about losing. I understand the issues about being played out of position, though.

Given it seems we've signed Viney, you'd think it'd be difficult to fit Gus in if we're also looking at any other mids on the market/convincing them to pursue a trade with us.

I hope not. Brayshaw would eat Polec for Breakfast. Polec is not that good and is bad news. Forr me Brayshaw has more upside remembering he came 3rd in the Brownlow only 2 years ago.

Hi Rab. He phoned D’Orazio who is his Manager on Saturday night. I genuinely believe Christian loves the Club and probably loves every single person in it, however, I suspect that Christian genuinely believes he’s built for Grand Finals and has a burning desire to play in a FEW before he’s finished and might have just had some doubts.

He’s contracted for two years so that’s that, however, I’d be very worried that if the Dees aren’t a GENUINE Premiership contender at the end of this Contract, he won’t finish his career at the Dees.  Time will tell.

I think you may be stretching things a bit too  far now, but you are likely to suck a lot in.

This has been my worry for several years now. We are never going to win a flag if every time we start to build a list we lose a key player.

Who have we lost recently? Like the last 4 years?

Please don't say Jesse Hogan. Pick 6 for him was a steal. He's spent

Watts? Nah!

Norf has screwed us enough over the past 10 or so years, I'd rather not let them do it at the trade table.

Keep losing, wasting everyones time and all our guns will leave. The past two years are enough losing.

Note, I said consider. Beyond that identicial disposals over career as well as player rating. One is a mid we cant fit into a midfield lacking variety and another is outside creativity and run. How stupid of me to consider a trade like that.

One would be moving to his 4th club, which shows he has some major flaws.   The only way this works if Nth passed over the pick we gave them last year

From a list management perspective Clarry and Trac are must keep at all costs. They are our match winners and game breakers. From an inside mid perspective I’d say Brayshaw Viney and Harmes (although played out of position) are tradeable.
I think Gus most likely to move on. Then Harmes back in the midfield mix to run with and block etc for Clarry and Trac. Our best starting midfield is Gawn Clarry Trac and Viney.

Brayshaw is a must keep. If Clarry or Trac get injured to have him there is a need. They should be looking at resting both those up guys forward more next year and while running Brayshaw through the middle. Having Clarry or Trac playing out of the goal square at times will only help Weid and Jackson.

Brayshaw has much more upside than Polec.

My brother an avid Nth supporter, says Polec is good but slowing down and losing his speed and run.

If we did this trade we would regret it.

Would rather than Harmes than Gus.He has a higher footy IQ and is a much better player.

The bottom 6 are slop, selection is all over the shop, game plan ? and over offering recruits that under perform.
Players talk..if you want success as a player you would think twice about staying at MFC.
Not surprising really.

The dominant storyline coming out of Round One for Saturday Night’s clash at Optus Stadium centres on the influence of the big men. The spotlight naturally falls on two elite ruckmen who, five years ago, shared the stage in Melbourne’s memorable premiership triumph.

  • THE STATS FILES: St. Kilda

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, we’ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binman’s Stats Files. Not because it isn’t important; quite the opposite. It’s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
