Probably his best game for the club today. Passed one off. Dropped one just outside the square too.

I think he is on the cusp of being efficient.

McDonald’s mild return to form, Gawn, and Jackson have been really good for Bayley.

I think he will be even more effective when BBB spreads the attention further.

That's one of the most sane things you have said on here :)

I concur fully...

Actually on the subject of Bailey - as stick figure as he is, he does put his body on the line...his fourth goal in particular.

Despite his slight frame he is a tough barsteward. Last couple of seasons they've been bombing the ball on his head and hasn't flinched.

No trade. No way.
Fritsch is nearly nearly there.   Ready to kick a bag of goals.  He needs more grippo on his hands (still misses some easy marks) and the confidence with his kicking.  He has the marking and kicking and agility to be a huge asset.

If he kicked straight he’d kick four goals every week. He creates so many opportunities, just needs to make the most of them more consistently. He’s a talent and takes marks he has no right to.

Perfect mid sized marking forward IMO. Just keep kicking straight please!

Bit of Norman Gunston about anyone that wanted him traded.

His biggest knock was kicking for goal. Today is tough conditions he was on song. Hopefully it's a boost to his confidence going forward.

Second in the league for marks inside 50. A real hack.

Interestingly Tmac is leading the league for tackles inside 50 right now.

I’m hoping for every goal Fritsch kicks, a poster who has requested he be traded, be banned.

Terrific, thanks.

Really,?

Hnmm is not some recognition enough?

Still needs to deliver..... comsistently

Nah not really Pickett.

Like a number of others,  Fritsch is putting his body on the line constantly.  Occasionally playing on from a mark seems to suit his style too (no time to over-think a shot for goal)

He's been our best forward for quite a while now and his kicking for goal has been good in the past 2 games (7 goals 2 behinds)

And as someone mentioned, he could be even more dangerous with a fit & firing Ben Brown in the team.  His marking skills makes him the ideal 3rd forward in a good team

Brown, T-Mac with Fritsch as the 3rd tall will trouble a number of defences ... cameo's from LJ & Gawn up forward and suddenly our forward line can function well ongoing (not forgetting Kozzie, Spargo & ANB nipping about)

He’s a star, always has been.

Anyone who doesn’t has hasn’t seen this has rocks in their head.

It was a master stroke to use the pick we got for Watts to pick him up in the draft. Not only was he instantly better than Watts, we will get at least a decade of football out of him.

Presents so well, never shirks contact, great hands. When the radar is working is a very potent weapon.

Made a couple of mistakes yesterday. He had Kossie wide open in the goal square at one stage but fluffed the straight forward cross field kick to him under zero pressure. Tends to make these errors when he has time on his hands. Reading what Chocco has done for Langdon I hope he can help Fritsch to settle in those scenarios.

Add more composure and execute better and he’ll be A-grade. Can't wait to see how he goes with BB in the team.

I think it’s brilliant that Fritsch has started to deliver on his talent. I listened to Kane Cornes on SEN this morning and he reckons it was a break game for him yesterday.

But I think there’s some revisionism going on in this thread. Let’s not start re-writing history. Like many of the players on our list there were justifiable doubts about whether he would make the grade. Fritsch’s name was bandied about as a possible trade option to allow us to pick up a Gunston or similar player. At the time plenty thought it was worth considering, myself included.

Thankfully he has come good and any talk of trading him has now been firmly put to bed. But can the hindsight harry’s on this thread please give it a rest.

Like my Merlot this thread has been aging nicely and although blurry my foresight was 20/20. The only revisionism going on here is by the ....... premature posters who jumped on the bandwagon.

‘Always been a star’...

That is the type of post that you would role your eyes and correct.

His value is as a complimentary piece and he is now the beneficiary of a system that is creating opportunities through defensive pressure.

I always thought he could be the cream to a cake and the only issue has been the last two years watching him try to, and be asked to, be the cake - a focal point in a forward line without a purpose.

Not sure you really want to give Bayley his due credit for his ability.

Yes our system and forward work is much better but it is too simplistic not to recognise that the last 2 weeks have been coming for a long time but poor conversion and possibly some lack of  self belief and self pressure Imposed upon himself have delayed his progress.

He Is a star and like many in the team is just starting to shine in all the right ways fir the team.

It appears that right now all the players are enjoying their roles and are very positive about our development ( which I predicted all pre season BTW).

We haven't hit the scoreboard properly yet so no reason to get too confident about any result as long as we play as a team the result will take care of itself.

Agree entirely No thought at all was IMO at Club level to trade Fritta.

It was the impatient nellies who didn't understand his skills while he develops.

We are too impatient for our recruits to progress and often it takes longer than we want EgEven Trac had a post of D/L ers wanting to trade Him in 2019!

We need to take chill pills at times and put our faith in the Coaches and the players a little more.

This rebuild has taken a while for the maturity to show but like a fine wine is prospering before our eyes.

The vintage has not even been picked yet But a bumper crop is looking possible unless the weather ( injuries) prevent this happening.

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team.
