Just interested to know if any of you have heard anything around us now chasing Tom Phillips with Smith out of the picture?

Thanks

It's already been reported a few times that we offered Phillips a deal at the same time or roughly the same time as Smith. It's matter of what we have to get the deal done, given Phillips has a year to run on his contract, which was not the case with Smith.

the big advantage of smith was that he was a 'free' acquisition

now we'll have to give to get

if we can still manage to do t mac / o mac / preuss out for brown / phillips we're, theoretically, #winning as we've added two best 22 players for 3 players in the 23-30 range

I still think we’d be aiming at

trade out.  Tmc OMc Preuss

trade in. Brown, Phillips, Narkle

That would be a winner trade period.

Players like Phillips and Treloar who are being pushed out by their clubs, will be cheaper trades than their true worth, otherwise they will not be chased and will cause salary headaches by staying where they are..

Narkle, Clark and Constable (is he still there?) are of interest to me from Geelong.

Clark is either staying at Geelong or heading to his home state of WA. Constable is a pure inside mid of which we already have too many. Narkle would be handy

I'm staggered how clubs sign up multiple big names and still keep their cap integrity. Clearly something fishy happening and Gill is doing this:

According to Damo Jaidyn Stephenson is looking for a new home. Would slot in nicely as a high half forward upgrading Melksham.

Something along the lines of Tmac + future second for Stevo + Phillips could be of interest.

is stepho got caught with a hooker in his room in hub and got in a fight with the club staffer who caught him but they obvs tried to sweep it under the rug and keep it on the downlow but it had to do with why he was dropped midseason

could be well off the mark but thats what ive heard from a mate who has a source in the club ?‍♂️

Sorry all. I’d forgotten about Mitch Hannan already.

Would love to have Clark ahead of Phillips and most others named on here, Brown excepted, being the key forward.

IMO we should have a real hard go at Clark. He could play wing or half back and then we can forget some other lesser players.

Pressure is building on Geelong to come up with a pay rise to keep breakout star Sam Menegola beyond the end of the next season.

The 28-year-old had a career-best year in 2020, making his first All Australian squad as the Cats reached the grand final.

But his future will be clouded until he puts pen to paper on a new deal, with 7NEWS Perth’s Ryan Daniels reporting rival clubs are standing by to chase Menegola.

Geelong signed Hawthorn wingman Isaac Smith, who turns 32 in December, on Friday.

As part of their tilt at a premiership they will also add GWS forward Jeremy Cameron and North Melbourne midfielder Shaun Higgins by the end of the trade period.

But while those additions were seen as reasonable given Gary Ablett has retired and the Cats had salary cap space previously earmarked to re-sign Tim Kelly, Menegola’s emergence was not so predictable.

Not seen anything in the press, but a player I would target is Bailey Dale from the Dogs. Very quick and good overhead and on the ground. He’s not as skilled or slippery as Bailey Fritsch, but he offers good defensive pressure and would fit in any forward mix.

May as well get Stepho and add Jesse to the forward  mix and they could have a two for the price if one hooker Hub  deal If we are Covid again in 2021!!

Any love at all for Josh Caddy. If we miss out on other targets like a Phillips, Narkle etc. would we ask the Tigers about Caddy’s availability.  He seems on the fringe at the Tigers but is a proven player and goalkicking half forward.  I’m not sure about his off field behavior but thought I’d raise the question.

Clark / Menengola from Geelong should be our number 1 targets.
How much cap space can Geelong have... press hard for some of their quality who may be getting unders.

If we're not all over Menegola there is something wrong.

What's a bigger disaster for the cats, signing Smith, (who i still believe is coming to the Dees) and losing Menegola. or not starting Dangerfield in the middle at the start of the 3rd quarter in the grand final?

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
