Why do you think Saad is worth? Definitely around the range for what is being offered.  As for Williams he will be on a bigger contract year 1 but evens itself out after that.  Don’t get sucked into what the media say, they are just guessing

Won't matter what you offer Dodoro. You could offer him the Eiffel Tower and he would want something else. He is a muppet.

As for the media they know what most contracts are worth. Keep in mind, agents are pumping the media full of information to boost the worth of their player.

Oh we have 3 clubs interested. 800-900k a year blah blah blah.

A club then comes along and says we'll give your fine foot soldier $750k for 5 yea

5 years and everyone thinks its a bargain.....

If you look at what the media has said in regards to Williams, it has ranged from 700 - 900k.  There is no way he is on anything above 750k

Wait, aren’t Kia and Hyundai the same company? I’m sure the scum would be able to offer a Kia of commensurate value.

Time for Jaguar to assist with our recruitment.

Forget about it, he isn’t going anywhere. Essendon have already counter offered this from Super Amart.

He’s a diehard Dogs fan in case this is a serious question.

If Essendon is keeping Saad by offering him way over the odds it's to their detriment. Fantastic.

I wonder if Lockhart's omission and a potential delisting is tied up with discussions we might have been having with Saad over the past month or 3 (As well as relating to list size downgrading)

Not much point playing a small defender if he wont be getting a game next year and beyond.

How can you ruin a young players career on this sort of logic.

Yes I was annoyed and disappointed that Jay missed the last few rounds but he is a future back pocket fir a decade and his ability will win out in 2021.

Surely they'd offer him a SAAD SAAB?

I reckon we shifted gear a while ago.

We missed a golden oppurtunity last year with Jack Martin....and theyve done us again with Saad. Deep pockets and lots of brown paper bags down there at carlton. imo he was exactly what we needed.

I reckon they're massively overspending on guys who aren't core members of the team. If they were spending big and bringing in the likes of Patrick Cripps, sure, but they're spending massive dollars on half forwards and half backs. They are still yet to address their midfield.

What happens when Charlie Curnow makes it back (if he does)? Where do they find the money to pay him? How do they find the money to fit in another midfielder or two that they desperately need?

Carlton have a good spine, but their midfield is weak and unless they vastly improve this, they won't win a flag.

Disappointing once again that we've missed out on a player that fits a great need for us.

Carlton are building a potent list while we have more holes then a Swiss cheese with ours.

They've done exceptionally well.

Disappointing, would have been brilliant for us on off the backline.  I do wonder if Carlton are leaving themselves open for a raid of their younger talent with the amount they are spending on flankers.

He has something we need, so it's disappointing to miss out yet again.

But also, how are the Blues able to pay all these players under the salary cap?
Jack Martin was the 6th highest paid player in the league this year, on more than Bontempelli, Dangerfield, Gawn, Neale etc. How can they afford to pay Saad 700k+ and Williams 800k+. It doesn't add up...

  • NON-MFC: Round 07

Round 7 gets underway in iconic fashion with the traditional ANZAC Day blockbuster. The high-flying Magpies will be looking to solidify their spot atop the ladder, while the Bombers are desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top eight. Later that evening, Fremantle will be out to redeem themselves after a disappointing loss to the Demons, facing a hungry Adelaide side with eyes firmly set on breaking into the top four. Saturday serves up a triple-header of footy action. The Lions will be looking to consolidate their Top 2 spot as they head to Marvel Stadium to clash with the Saints. Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans. Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
