The Aints know what is on the line. They won’t lose with Ratts in charge

Why should we get 3 chances??

Tim Kelly the one man midfield for wce it unbelievable by foot and clean, this is type of player we need

A gift for St Kilda with half the Eagles side out.

I was going to say why cant we ever have this luck, but we would lose this game anyway.

No excuses or whinging. We’re our own worst enemy. We’ve had a dream run with injury this year, nearly the least games lost to injury of any club. Credit to the fitness staff.

We’ve also had some very favorable runs with the umpires in matches this year too.

Just two weeks ago we lost to 2nd last Sydney who were missing Buddy, Rampe, Heeney, Mills off the top of my head.

We have a history of losing to extremely weak opposition. I’ll never forget when we lost to an Essendon replacement team.

Looking at the Saints, we sure dont look like we deserve to be there.   Gonna need to be a revolution in our game style for us to even make it, let alone trouble anyone.

Saints suck, they will fall into the 8 and do nothing.

And we double suck in comparison, but I don’t disagree.....

What this shows is that us and the Saints are probably actually in a very similar position (reflected by us both fighting out for the bottom 8th spots and our tight contest the other week). We both have it in from of us as opportunities to make the finals.

Basically neither team really deserves it, both should be making up the numbers in the finals no matter who gets through.

this

the top 5 look like premiership contenders, but both the bears and meth coke are currently beset by serious injury (gov did him hammy for the latter tonight), while all the teams 6-13 are pretenders, freo and sydney are rebuilding and capable but not consistent, while the bottom three of crows, kangas, and hawks are pretty ordinary

too many teams, too many ordinary footballers

Meth Coke with half a side still play with more skill and pressure than us

Ridiculous!!

It is so frustrating watching a hack side like St Kilda and knowing they sit sixth.

Sixth!

A competition full of plodder sides and we still can’t make the 8. Shameful stuff.

Tim Kelly is one hell of a footballer.

Him and ryan please.

I thought Ryan had hit his ceiling in 2018 - he just keeps getting better and better.  Great player.

Did anyone know that Duggan is from Bacchus Marsh and was coached by Dougie Hawkins???

Who would have guessed.

Go Saints!

I suspect partly talent but mostly well directed, skilled and drilled in a very basic but effective game style SW.

Did you hear the pre-game interview with Rattan?  His assessment of Meth's strengths and weaknesses as well as the approach to the changing conditions etc.  No wonder they are doing very well this season.  Oozs confidence but also hints of a guy who assesses & analyses in depth and it plays out on the field.

I'm not saying they are world beaters but they're in very good hands.

And how smart was that little double tap kick off the ground by Butler a little while ago for the goal off the ground!  Our blokes would be either attempting to pick it up in slippery conditions or jump on it and probably get pinged for HTB.  Outside of natural talent that shines through on occasions, we are a terribly coached/drilled/skilled team in general.  Awful to watch.

Even the coaching genius of Ratten couldn’t get the Saints over the line ?

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

It’s late February. Two teams widely predicted to finish near the foot of the AFL table in 2026 face off against each other in sweltering 30-degree heat deep in outer suburbia in a match simulation with fresh new faces and uneven team numbers. There are no nearby sheep stations on offer; the result promises nothing more than bragging rights for the winner. Nevertheless, the loser appears hopelessly adrift, whereas the other seems to have found its footing after a couple of years of struggle – perhaps a hint at bigger things to come?
