Who should our next coach be?

Bring on the Yze.  He's highly rated, he's had a long apprenticeship under Clarkson and he was an exceptional kick.  Just what we need.

Captain-coach? Old school. ?

It has to be Alistair Clarkson.

Nobody else. He is a 4 time Premiership coach. We missed out on Kevin Sheedy in 2008. We cannot make the same mistake again.

Alistair Clarkson's days at Hawthorn are numbered.

We can't risk another young and untried coach.

Get Alistair Clarkson with Adem Yze as his assistant. Have a clean sweep of the entire Football Department.

Give Alistair Clarkson a 5 year contract with free reign to do what he needs to do at the club.

We need to start from scratch and build back everything at the club from the ground up.

We are hopeless. I could have sworn we did this 6 years ago.

If everyone is happy with someone who would be better than Goodwin then I suggest we get a possum with developmental issues.

It would cost us nothing and whilst its decisions may sometimes confuse us, I believe it would be a step forward.

Someone with a no holds barred attitude, supported by an experienced elder statesmen with both people and fitness skills.

Mark Neeld, and Neil Craig. Obviously.

I have to continually remind myself that Troy Chaplin is part of our coaching staff.

Troy Chaplin ffs.

Alan Richardson  with a second stint at coaching could be a nice fit for us. He won't take any crap. He is well respected  and will bring in a new game plan and pick up some skillful players along the way that can kick.

oh my god.....

Maybe a straight swap Clarkson to Melbourne Goodwin to Hawthorn. There was an example years ago when Walls and Parkin swapped clubs.

Goodwin is surely done barring total incompetence from our board  (which is possible).

Who do you want to coach us next?   I will go with Ross Lyon, we need someone experienced and he taken two teams to Grand Finals.  An untried coach is too much of a risk for us.

Listen Mr  know it all the God won't help you. do you know him ?    Explain yourself, What do you mean with  your remark?

Don't you like  Richo?    Did l  remark about your opinion?    DERRRRR!

Clarkson is the dream, but realistically I think Ross would be a very smart choice. Twice he has gone to underachieving clubs and immediately shot them up to premiership contenders. Our young midfield will be around for some time, but the likes of Gawn and May don't have forever. We can't hire a new coach and wait multiple years to become contenders. We need someone who can maximise this current group now.

Ross would be better than Goodwin is a fact. He has football coaching intelligence and can get the most out of a group of players. We have talent but no cohesion, system or standards required

(Reasonably realistic) wish list...

Head Coach (3-4 years) - Ross Lyon
Forward Coach/Successor - Adem Yze
Midfield Coach - Dean Solomon
Backline Coach - Luke Hodge
Ruck/Stoppages - Ben Mathews
Part Time Goal Kicking Coach - Brad Green
Head Of Development - Mark Williams
Development Coach - Jordan Lewis
Director Of Football - Alan Richardson

Why Lyon? He walked out on St Kilda, whose culture was questionable at the time, went to Freo without St Kilda knowing, and had some issues of a personal nature at Freo as well, I recall. He is somewhat tainted. Too much baggage.

Got both teams to a grand Final and you gotta be in it to win it.

Ill take him and all his baggage!

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

Melbourne’s slow starts have been a troubling theme for a while. Against the Suns, they started slowly in both of their games, they trailed by 5.7.37 to 0.1.1 at quarter time at Peoples First Stadium in Round 16. This season, the story has remained the same and if the Demons fail to shake off this issue against the unbeaten Gold Coast Suns, they will be in serious danger of capitulating once again in their Easter Sunday showdown.

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
