Apparently there's a scratch match on today. TBH no idea against who etc.

Anyone heard anything or know who's playing? Fairly sure Bennell is so he wouldn't be looking at selection this week.

Cheers.

Great to see Bradtke get a mention I think he has a bright future.

Summary: The team started slowly but really got its game going in the second half to win coming from behind. From halfway through the third quarter, they started to win the contests and the ground balls and they were outstanding with about six goals in the last quarter.

The team wasn’t delivering it well to Tom McDonald but he didn’t drop his head and he and Bailey Fritsch teamed up well as the game went on. Fritta put in a quality game and kicked at least four goals - not only dangerous around goals but with his passing to teammates. From the sound of it, we can expect him Fritta kicked back for Thursday’s game against the Swans.

Nibbler played an important role in the team’s comeback, not only when forward but also when on the ball.

Others who impressed were Corey Wagner who used the ball well, Oskar Baker played his third good game in a row on the wing and kicked a couple of goals going forward and Nev was good in defence. Pleased with Austin Bradtke’s game helping with the clearance work.

Note: James Harmes was the holdover emergency.

Yep, he was visible in the pre-game coverage heavily strapped around the upper body. Fresh for a comeback next week.

I really thought he should have gone to Bont last week. It was striking to see Dangerfield going hard against Bont on Friday night. Gave him none of the latitude that we did.

I didn’t have the volume on so I stand to be corrected. Did I see #34 for MFC on the ground and if, so is that Marty Hore?

Absolutely. Dangerfield and also Guthrie bodied and pushed Bont.  We applied zero physical pressure and allowed him to roam. Goodwin completely failed v Bulldogs

It was a mix of players. #21 was not Preuss. He was in the NT. #21 looked like a slim Chris Dawes

Judging from that footage Collingwood played really well.

Fritsch will come back in fresh on Thursday. The players must be feeling niggles by now. Same with Harmes assuming he comes in to play mid/fwd.

In the few short snippets he appeared in he was ambling around with zero intensity.

I suspect it was Collingwood footage. Looked like a Collingwood version of our highlight reel. There was not one MFC score in the whole 10 minutes. Nice to know we won ....

Well they were Collingwood highlights, so I would really hope so.   Was watching myself and thinking where is our come back,   havnt seen any of our late goals.   not surprising, the pies played well.   so it seems

The decrease in the soft salary club will see clubs increasingly relying upon volunteer labour.

One of the first things I hope they enlist is a decent media (video department)

Most youtubers would put them to shame. Perhaps outsourcing the whole thing to a youtuber might be a good idea. Throw in a few pieces of financial advice(those videos make the most) and it would be a nice little earner for someone.

Fascinating to see Rivers with his gopro after the game

I think I am missing watching Casey this year More than  I am The Dees at the G.
Usually enjoy my trips to windy hill, Willy, Punt  road etc.

sad to say that the trip to Coburg Port and Frankston will most likely be no more.

I expect Essendon may vacate Windy Hill and perhaps share an oval such as Arden Street and Western Oval for its VFL matches. Not sure they would like to have the public at Tullamarine. On my one trip to Windy Hill I was amazed to see how little of the old Bombers set up was left. Hell they don't even have a scoreboard.

I think your suggestion of giving the job and a few $$ to a youtuber is a model an astute Club could use in a number of areas. Not suggesting going back to the friendly volunteer days but some astute fanning out of jobs we otherwise pay big $$$ for.

Sorry mate, can't agree with this at all and I think you're forgetting a big percentage of staff have been stood down so the media department is currently running on fumes.

Go back and watch To Hell & Back and see what you think of our media department and 'video department'. The production, footage, direction and quality of content was top notch. The media department has been absolutely nailing it this year.

And no offence, but I don't think you understand the difference between a YouTuber and a media production department. They're not similar things. On top of that, thinking we'll outsource something as important as marketing and content production to some volunteers is pretty out of touch.

Agree DJ I don’t think they have spent one dollar since they left. Sadly the shape of reserve back up players for AFL sides will probably never return to what is was. I fully expect afl teams will have their player spread across a number of lower level clubs. The old days of watching a”reserves team “ may be dead .

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
