I would look to get Bennell back in the side and work on ways to get the ball to him. He is an outsider with class but we aren’t making the most of his finishing skills. Would be good to have him in form towards the end of the season.

Harmes has more lives than a cat. Having a terrible season.

What is his role? Any idea?

The defence is working, all the media pundits and Goodwin agree, now where is Harmes playing?

If Gawn is fit, how about we keep Preuss and drop McDonald? Could Preuss do worse up forward than ol concrete boots?
I just feel that dropping Preuss who had a good game after one solitary opportunity is just wrong.

Outside a couple of first quarter goals against the Swans last year Preuss up forward was the concrete body!

If he goes forward then Weid is forced to play higher which takes away what he's doing well and the forward pressure (even though it's not Tom's strength by any means) likely gets worse.

For now I think just covering Max is all we've got for Preussy.

DEFEND THEM WITH YOUR LIFE SATY!

Harmes has been ok but not the player he once was.

Vanders and Jones were awesome what are you thinking?

I'd say that Vanders and Jones were fine today, certainly wouldn't go as far as awesome. It's more to do with my thoughts that Harmes is not being maximised at half back, and that I'd rather bring in another backman to replace him, so that he can have more wing time.

I don't know, but I really liked the new improved slim Preuss today. Looked more agile. ❤️

He is playing a completely different role

If push comes to shove, he can go into the midfield, doesn't need to due to healthy list

Can go forward if need be, doesn't need to

So he is playing the 7th defender, when he, Lockhart and Salem are on the field together, he frees up Salem to join the attack more, not noticed that, or you one of those just looking for something to criticise?

Also has the speed to  plug defensive gaps

Guess who was fastest player out there tonight

Also, AVB another slow player, according to experts on here, was in top 5 as well

I really wish you were wrong. Regrettably,  you’re not.

I would much rather watch Preussy running around than T Mac but a Preuss for Gawn straight swap makes the most sense.

He has no agility and doesn’t tackle. I reckon he’s building for next year.

thats our teams problem - hitting targets

Depends on Max. If he is right then Preuss out. I would drop Tomlinson as well and bring in Bennell.

It's hard to tell on tv but Tomlinson could have been playing his role and running all night.

He also might not have I guess.

Fritsch is definitely one of, if not our biggest down hill skiers. Not hard enough at the contest for mine either.

He'll keep getting games because he kicks goals, but his defensive work is dreadful.

I'd go no change, unless Kozzie needs a rest, in which case I'd bring back Hannan.

I reckon it won't be long until Rivers comes back for Jones and Harmes moves forward.

Yeah right.

We don't need any guys who just kick goals.

We can win it with missed set shots and sprayed snaps.

I can't understand all the Bennell love on this site.  He looks cooked IMO.

I wouldn’t say he looks cooked, he’s played some good footy in patches but I agree that he hasn’t given big numbers so fitness is still an issue. I think he has more to his story for the year but I wouldn’t be rushing him back in.

Don’t think anybody is facing the axe, so it’s just a case of anyone who needs a rest, and whether Gawn is good to go. So who knows.

Gawn for Pruess if Max is fit. Harmes out and maybe give Jordan a run.

We need to cast an eye over Jordan - he should replace Harmes but replacing Salem on the HBF would be a better move.

Rivers needs to come in, as does Smith at the HFF. Hannan on the bench to sit with Salem and Harmes, at least. Jones - out for a week. Keep the Beast to work with Max (coming in one hopes) and to roam across the forward line, drop the lumbering TMac until his limited pace improves, using Max to effect on the backline after centre rucking. Keep the smalls as best as possible to counteract the Doggies run. Ceremoniously award AVB the MIghty Demons Bravery Medal, for services rendered.

Vanders was terrible, he went back hard and knocked out a Pies player otherwise:

18 touches, 8 of which were turn overs, 50% disposal efficiency and 0 tackles.

At this point I don’t think the positives outweigh the negatives.

Yes he did against North on the wing

Not according to the stat sheet. 4 contested marks for the year. None since returning to the side.

He is making a contest forward but he isn't marking them.

Up until 400 hours ago, he was the only player on Jolimont Terrace that could hit a target.

Hes playing in defence mostly.

Hes also having a garbage season.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
