It’s the best crop of youngsters we’ve had in a while.

Gussy welcome back, Lever on another level, Weed just doing Weed things, Action growing into a reliable performer.

Ball movement was brilliant in parts tonight but North are weak as a prolapsed butt hole.

Jonesy was good tonight, Spargs was surprisingly decent tonight, pat on the back keep it up.

Petracca , Oliver , Brayshaw , Action Jackson  and TMac They dominated the middle after quarter time. 12 goals 10 behinds to  2G 3 B 

22 shots at goals to 5  after quarter time. it was one way traffic . It was a demolition !  They always seem to match up well however not this time.  FINALLY.

 

Will the afl fixture us at the Adelaide Oval again? 
I feel we play the ground pretty well, like marvel vs mcg under Goodwin. We were pantsed at the Gabba.  Therefor I’m guessing our remaining games will be at Optus and Gabba.

Clarrie in the middle is a non-negotiable, Trac is about to become our premier mid (if he hasn't become so already) and Gus has shown that whilst talented in the middle, is lost elsewhere.

Which begs the question, what do we do with the one extra we have? Where do we play Jack?

North was absolutely abysmal tonight. D-grade tripe. We've won two games and absolutely done what we needed to do (win and build percentage), but our opposition both weeks was horrendous.

Yes, we ran all over them in the last. They were down to two on the bench and had two players carrying corks.

Yes, Brayshaw looked better today than previously. But, again, the opposition was shocking. I don't necessarily agree that this is definitive evidence that we're "better" with Gus in the middle instead of Viney.

Now, with that out of the way, let's talk positives.

Oliver and Petracca have led from the front the past fortnight. Something's clicked for Clarry and he's now bursting from stoppages and releasing others with long, forward handpasses. That, as much as anything, has made us more dynamic through the middle.

Weideman's confidence is growing. He's commanding the ball and he's bringing it to ground when he can't mark it. If he'd kicked those early ones he missed (he should have kicked all of them), his confidence would have gone through the roof. Really impressive stuff, IMO.

Jackson's coming along faster than I expected him to. His spread from stoppages is really valuable. He's so fast and agile for someone his size. Can't wait to get some more muscle onto his frame so he can compete in the ruck and in the air more.

Pickett was great today IMO. He does so much right: creating space, releasing others, pressure. Spargo deserves all the credit he's getting: if he can maintain this form, he really adds to our forward line.

Lever was fantastic again. Yes, he peeled off in the third and we conceded a goal as a result, but it was his willingness and ability to zone off and intercept that stopped North getting it past the middle of the ground from quarter time onwards. He and May are working better together by the week.

And we did this all with passengers: Harmes, Jones, Sparrow and Melksham all struggled, and I personally thought TMac was way off it, his tackles notwithstanding. 

The season is set up for us now. Our next two games are against sides right around us on the ladder. If we're competing for a top 8 spot, it's against Collingwood and the Dogs. Great to pocket these two wins, and percentage, and hopefully some confidence, but the true test is yet to come.

Ripped through the heart of North Melbourne. Awesome midfield display. Will watch the Brownlow count for Round 11 results with pleasure.?

Pop the champagne: we're 9th on the ladder, the highest we've been since 2018!

We have just beaten 2 very poor sides with North having a lot of injuries. We play a depleted filth next and should win that but I will start to take notice if we can beat the dogs. North were crap so I can't take anything from that victory except weeds 1st half and Brayshaw who must play in the middle.

Great win. Should have been 100 points but I’ll take it. Let’s wait for Garry Lyon’s negative comments tomorrow morning on SEN.

I know Goodwin has made some bewildering selection decisions this year, but not selecting his AA captain and vice captain would be brilliantly surreal!

There's a difference between what will happen and what should, mate. I'd like to see how our mids go again without Max. Goldstein was probably the best ruck in the competition coming in to tonight and he had little to no influence.

this was a significant game because they have our first rounder. If we finish bottom 3 they get a massive gift, but if we win just 3-4 more game I beleive they will finish with a pick 15+ due to academy picks. It may not seem so silly after all. but we need to keep winning !!

I love modern umpiring. Last week Max had a serial pest charging into him repeatedly off the contest but that’s OK. Tonight Harmes takes a Mark with an opposition player coming front on at him. He throws a a clenched fist at the players thigh to let him know he didn’t appreciate the attention but wait that is a free kick! A north player runs back with the flight of the ball and gets collected, not high but that again is a free? I could go on about the tackles that start correctly but the player ducks their head so an arm goes over their head and that is a high tackle, then you get Kossie running onto a loose ball only to be obviously retarded right in front of the umpire but that is play on. I no longer know what the rules of the game are. 

People are right to put things into perspective. the true test is yet to come but let me say this. 

I want to put things into another perspective. for so many years I've seen us capitulate to North and experience gut wrenching losses, sometimes when I thought we were definitely the best team but alas not on the scoreboard. We've had time when we had players down, critical umpiring decisions against us etc culminating in heart breaking losses.Time and time again.

Yes North were men down tonight for the last quarter but we've had our fair share of bad luck against this side in close games culminating in a ridiculous run of losses. Tonight it went our way injury wise and we beat them emphatically. 

We deserve to celebrate the win. God knows we absolutely deserve it.

I'm no fan of Carlton, but gee, the umpires stitched them up with the inconsistent calling of HTB. A Carlton player was wrapped up by Darling the same second he took possession of the ball with it held to his chest - HTB -  West Coast goal. A Carlton player was slung around like a rag doll (shades of ANB) and thrown to the ground while the ball spilled out - play on. 

Carlton players want clarification on the rule. With so many clubs and fans confused and upset, something needs to be done about this shocking state of affairs.

Good win. It’s a concern that our diet consists exclusively of low-hanging fruit, but at least we’re not going hungry, I guess.
