I was really happy to see us keep another team to 5 goals.

Good signs.

Oliver took big steps again in the right direction.

Offense still needs a lot of work, but it is getting better.

Do it in the big games now

Well done Dees we belted the 2 bottom teams and that is what we had to do now for the test against the Pies.

Petracca BOG again. Oliver continuing his great form Brayshaw played great replacing Viney.

The young guns are the story of the night Kossie electrifying, great game from Dogga to beat the 3rd best ruckman in the league in Goldstein. Sparrow and Rivers deserve a mention as well.

A special mention to Spargo I thought he was cooked but he deserves another game after that effort well done son

Completely unfair. Which game were you watching mate? Spargo was involved in pretty much every Melbourne scoring chain for the match. Just wow.

Yep, 77% game time,  7 score involvements (=4th most on ground) out of 12 disposals. Basically when he gets involved he creates.

He also had more disposals in the first half than the second.

We ran into the two worst teams in the comp at the perfect time....smacked them off the park and hopefully that gives the boys confidence to go on with this season. Agree that Gus always plays way better when Jack is out, not sure what to do about the balance of our midfield when both are fit

Play Jack forward as a defensive forward who can also kick straight! But still has midfield time as required.

Jackson, Kozzie, Pickett, Sparrow.

Injecting some serious talent into our side once again.

Spargo was back to his best. Kept it simple and used the ball well. Courageous going in for that ball against Daw and bounced up like nothing happened.

Lever was our best backman by a mile. Kept everything in check.

I also thought Tomlinson was good. He rarely wasted the footy and gave us some good drive.

Langdon is a ridiculously hard worker. His running ability and workrate to create space and option on the outside cannot be faulted.

Petracca, Oliver, Brayshae.. all simply brilliant.

Hands up who think our midfield functions when Gus is in there full time instead of Viney?

Yes he does play better in the middle. Question is was he more damaging than Viney?

I know Viney has been one of our best this year, but Brayshaw offers so much more in the middle. He is really damaging with his disposal where Viney just seems to gain territory without actually generating any scoring opportunities.

What to do with Viney?

I despise North Melbourne.

I just went back and watched the 1st qtr because i knew the free kick count on afl.com was wrong. i counted 3-14 in favour of North if you include the 50 metre penalty. Funnily enough that was their best quarter.

Positives: Trac, Lever, Clarry, Weid, Jackson and Rivers all brilliant for me. A lot of people on here loving Spargo's game, maybe i need to rewatch, thought he was good not outstanding.

Negatives: Harmes once again with the ill discipline. Goal Kicking was poor.

Good signs with this bloke.

A really cathartic win.

I hate North and their fans.  It sucks we have been owned for so long by such a boring, rubbish and broke club  but the tables just turned.

Despite copping it from the demonlanders (myself included), T'mac and spargo both keep there spots for next week i reckon.

They were both really good tonight, hats off to them, t'mac tackled hard presented well and kicked a goal to top it off. Spargo was very clean with his disposal and provided great pressure.

Petracca and Oliver superb and Angus is really starting to get back to it.

Next week will be a serious test. Up the mighty demons!!!

I like that idea...and save Jack’s body a bit for finals when you need his battering ram attack on the ball in the guts

The one thing I will say is that we looked much better off this 4 day break than we did against Port

So whatever we did was good. Although quality of opposition helped

I assume we wont hear from olisik this week seen as we had win?

poita’s wifi never seems to work after a win either! I’m sure it will be fixed by the time of our next loss.

It's very hard to pick up on TV (as opposed to being at the game) but I suspect his pace is making it much harder for the opposition backs to organise themselves against us.

Tomlinson was a good avenue on the other wing. Both were assets in this game. Spacemakers, runners, eyes-up team members. ?

It's a strange feeling, being comfortable that we're not going to fold in the last quarter.

I could get used to it.

Norf had no idea or game plan, just awful.  Said to my young fella even when they were leading that we were a better team, waaaay better.

Throw in the comedic timing of Andrew Gaze and it's like sitting through a major surgery without so much as an aspirin to kill the pain.

Same here no interviews only the club song

  • CASEY: Geelong

There was a time in the second quarter of the game at the Cattery on Friday afternoon when the Casey Demons threatened to take the game apart against the Cats. The Demons had been well on top early but were struggling to convert their ascendancy over the ground until Tom Fullarton’s burst of three goals in the space of eight minutes on the way to a five goal haul and his best game for the club since arriving from Brisbane at the end of 2023. He was leading, marking and otherwise giving his opponents a merry dance as Casey grabbed a three goal lead in the blink of an eye. Fullarton has now kicked ten goals in Casey’s three matches and, with Melbourne’s forward conversion woes, he is definitely in with a chance to get his first game with the club in next week’s Gather Round in Adelaide. Despite the tall forward’s efforts - he finished with 19 disposals and eight marks and had four hit outs as back up to Will Verrall in the second half - it wasn’t enough as Geelong reigned in the lead through persistent attacks and eventually clawed their way to the lead early in the last and held it till they achieved the end aim of victory.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?
