It's 48 points isn't it? I used the ladder predictor and had GWS @ +19 and us +29 and we pip them by 0.1%

I can see it now Melbourne 34 points up Bombers player take a mark 70 mt from home siren goes. All the Melbourne player run to each other bombers player bombs ball which bounces though as 18 Melbournes watch from forty mts away. and we miss finals by .01%.

I think we will win well

Dogs are red hot and won’t lose.

GWS will beat Saints but by not enough.

We will miss out by .02 percent

Has anyone received their final packs in the mail yet?

do you think we will be required to register for the grand finals ticket quota as in usual years?

Serious question... What happens if the % and point are tied?

That probably requires exactly same for and away points for both teams to make sure the % are the same to 1000 decimal places.  I think seeing which team beat the ones above them the most (good in a season with everyone playing others only once) etc. But I'm sure the AFL would come up with some forumla to put whomever they prefer into the finals.

Where two or more Clubs at the completion of the Home and Away Matches have accumulated the same Premiership Points and have the same percentage, the following procedure shall apply: (A) the position of the tied Clubs shall be adjusted by accumulating the Premiership Points awarded to the relevant Clubs as a result of the Home and Away Matches played between them and placing the Club with the highest accumulated Premiership Points, first as between them; (B) where the Premiership Points accumulated by the relevant Clubs remain equal, the position of the tied Clubs shall be adjusted by calculating each such Club’s percentage based on the proportion of points scored for and against each such Club from the Home and Away Matches between them and placing the Club with the highest percentage, first as between them; (C) where two or more Clubs still remain tied, the position of the Clubs shall be adjusted by lot conducted and drawn by the General Manager - Football Operations so that any Club drawn ahead of any other Club shall be placed ahead of such other Club or Clubs.

So.... That rules that possibility out for us to miss out on the finals haha ?

If we tie with either Saints or GWS we go though as we beat them both!

Actually did the ladder predictor, we made the 8 and then went on a massive streak and won the flag

I had a dream that Fritsch hit the post after the siren and we missed finals by .01%

Thumb battle

We won’t make it and don’t deserve to make it tbh. When u lose to 2 bottom 4 teams u won’t be playing finals.

Whoever gets the 8th spot will most likely be playing WC in Perth so good luck with that. The finals birth will be short lived for that team.

I am always most nervous when we are clear favourites.  For some reason we don’t win when we absolutely should.  That’s why the bombers game is so vital.  Remember 2017.
We had it in the bag and blew it.  Hope history doesn’t curse us again.

If we beat the bombers I’ll be satisfied but still shake my head and groan at how we lost to Freo and the Swans !

Exactly.  We are not a premiership threat yet

The Age reporting Zac Jones will be out with a hamstring. Very handy.

I would have loved zak Jones at the dees. I see him as the main change to the saints style with his toughness and running. Big loss for them. The only player in that team with finals and serious big game experience

meh, seems like a bit of a f log and did nothing at sydney, would've preferred dylan grimes from richmond or brayden maynard from collingwood. we always seem to get the dud brother

We had a win. We are still in the hunt. Maybe we will get there, maybe we won’t, but geez the wrist slitting in this place is depressing. It’s just a game. A fun game, and a game we are invested in, but at the end of the day it’s a bunch of kids chasing an inflated bladder. It’s not the be all end all, and our lives won’t change no matter what happens this weekend

Ummm life.
Look of course I hate seeing us lose and I’d love to see us hold the cup before I die, but things are more important.
I haven’t been able to see my kids for 6 months. A friend died and I couldn’t go to their funeral. My job is on the skin of its teeth - very day to day.
So yeah as much as I love watching my team do well, it’s not the end of the world if they don’t. It’s a game. A fun game and a great distraction from the serious, but just a game.

The simple fact is that we are in this position because we lost to two sides we should have beaten. St Kilda, Bulldogs and Collingwood will be playing finals because they have won that one or two crucial games that mattered. Which is why at this very point those clubs have gone past us as far as development goes. Hopefully we can get back on the right side of the ledger next year

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
