Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Lloyd: Trade Oliver or Brayshaw

Not the worst idea, Ox.  We know Trac can play forward, Oliver is also pretty good above his head while Viney can play a 'bullocking' role at the feet of the talls when he rests down there.

We need to remember that Trac, Oliver and Viney don't play in the midfield for the entire game.  We always rotate some through.  If we wanted Harmes tagging someone specific, then he can go in there and we can rotate a little.  If we don't need him then he can just be part of the rotation.

Either way, we have options to change it up without robbing ourselves of having our best players in there.

@Rodney (Balls) Grinter

Consistently rotating our mids should be part of our game plan now especially that we have similar type mids but from what I can see it doesn’t happen much if at all.

I know I’m not an AFL coach but this basic plan should be part of our game plan imo.

The further Goodwin has coached us the less confident I have become in his ability to get the best out of our list and provide a game plan that suits the list he has at his disposal.

The suggestions to trade either Oliver or Brayshaw has lot of merit. If you look at 2018 Brayshaw played mainly in the centre and Oliver the chaos player. Oliver has been found wanting last year and this and Gus has been shifted all over the ground . Oliver gets a lot of stats for possession but wastes most is very overrated  in my opinion.  Brayshaw on the other hand has more football smarts than oliver and I feel with more continuity of position offers greater longterm benefit. Oliver would also have more trade currency maybe around pick 19 - 22

hahahahaha pick 19-22. LOL

Yeah let's trade our best mid of the last 20 years for an early 2nd rounder. I wouldn't exceptanything other than 2 early first rounders.

you guys have rocks in your head!!

I wouldn't even trade Oliver for picks 1,2 and 3 in this years draft.

it would take something very special to even consider it.

Maybe if the Suns offered Noah Anderson and Ben King?

I know right. People are going crazy on this board.

There is no point in trading brayshaw because we won't get any value at all for him, the absolute best a team would give for him is a second round pick, which especially in this year's draft doesn't have much currency to trade on for a need or will be good enough to pick a player that will have a big impact in the next few years. Trade Oliver or let Viney walk as a free agent for mine. If people want an outside classy player trading Brayshaw won't be enough to secure a player like that. Gotta give up value to get value. Brayshaw will also a better player by losing one of those 2 because he will actually get to play inside midfield.

So if we're trading one of them, it's Brayshaw.  No offence to Gus, but he's not even in the same field as Oliver.  I'm not even so sure the club would look to trade Gus and, even if they did, I'm not sure we'll get what we want.  It's easy to say trade one, but it's harder to get the player we need.  They have to be out there and available.

Also, harsh assessment on Bennell.  His best was excellent, and even if he is a little past it due to his injury history, we've seen that he has the capability to contribute at a good level to our side.

That comment about Bennell (@$$^% me off.

So we trade one of Gus or Oliver, then we have to go back and start again, no thank you.

Sorry Gawndog, you don't trade your best players just because they have value. Trading Oliver in my eyes would be worse than trading Gawn and on par with trading Petracca. crazy thinking.

he is our best clearance player.

The problem is if the player (ie Brayshaw/Harmes) offers us little when they're not in the midfield we still have a problem. They need to be able to contribute when they are on the wing/flanks otherwise they are just list cloggers.

Brayshaw is one of those big bodied kids that always got to play on ball as a kid. His size, fitness and drive allowed him to get plenty of kicks as a junior. I am always suspicious of the kids that have a golden run on the ball as juniors. Its no good trying to learn to kick or handball properly once you hit the big time. He cannot or does not want to play anywhere but in the middle.

I'm not saying we should trade Oliver, I'm just saying we won't get anything for Brayshaw if we get him. My opinion is we should let Viney walk then Brayshaw will be able to play inside mid and we get a good pick and cash to chase an outside classy player.

Yeah I don't mind letting brayshaw go or even viney (more reluctant). But we had this problem years ago. with 2 early picks we picked Strauss and Sam Blease to address exactly the same problems. It's just another reminder that picks don't equate actually getting it right.

Trade out Clarrie or Gus so we can watch them become stars of the game at another club under a better coach? Nuts!

I would rather trade the coach and find one who can maximise their potential.

Enough. The boys deserve better from the club. And more support and belief from us.

Totally agree.

We finally have some depth for rotation and some Lloyd want to get rid of that. Let the bombers take Goodwin back so we can get a coach who can use the squad we have successfully.

If the MFC traded Oliver l would never financially/spiritually support this club ever again

Thinking with your heart not your head there Billy. I think Oliver is great too but we all rated him based on his potential. His first couple of years were only amplified because of his raw talent and upside.

He has been exposed as a poor ball user and has low metres gained. Doesn’t get a tag anymore because he is not damaging.

At this point in time he isn’t top 100, but he was top 22 2 years ago at the age of 20/21 when he was AA.

Im still convinced this year will be a step backwards to take 2 forwards. He’s trying to hold onto the ball and take it on a bit more. He has lost confidence in his kicking, which has been nowhere near this bad in previous years, so I’m confident it will come.

Don’t usually quote myself, but I couldn’t agree with myself more. You could see tonight (as David King mentioned), he held the ball and took the game on. Tonight, it came off where it hasn’t in previous weeks. But the more it becomes the norm, the better he is going to get.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
