I have been watching this garbage for well over 50 years with very few breaks of sunshine. Tonite was disgusting.

And they save their worst for prime time TV.
Just love humiliating their supporters.

We got 3 weeks of applying physical pressure to our opponents after the players got called out by the media...which is 1 or 2 more weeks than i expected. So we should be happy really. Funnily enough we managed the kick some goals those weeks.

Goes to show just how much passion this group has for the club and the supporters though doesn't it. They'll have a crack for a bit if they get called out publicly...but the idea of giving that sort of effort week in week out is unthinkable.

Unimpeachable truth.

We just hurt and hurt. Soft underbelly and it's been there for years.

Dunno if it's passion, only Trac seems to want to be the best player he can be and do everything he can for this to happen. Would love to know how hard some players work on their weaknesses. They seem to just rely on the talent that got them there

Noticed this about Langdon too, was so infuriating!

Langdon has been disappointing for me this year.

Trac should go to a top line club before his talents are wasted.

I cannot recall a game of football where one team showed such woeful skills. There was no connection. the field kicking was dreadful. we could not string together 3 possessions and we did not run to spread. we also gave away stupid frees and did not stick tackles.

Did I miss anything?

I just finished watching one of the weakest most pitiful efforts in the red and blue ever.

Let me help you....

Belief, Spirit, Skills, Grunt, Polish, Finish, Smarts, Genuine Forwards, Pressure, Pressure inside 50, Connection (everywhere), ACCOUNTABILITY (almost everywhere), Passion, Love of the Game, TEAM WORK, Skills, LEADERSHIP.

We are [censored].  I would shift Goody aside on the quiet and get Richardson to takeover as the silent caretaker and start the search for a new SENIOR EXPERIENCED coach now behind the scenes and clean the entire coaching group out bar a few newbies at year's end.  This is a failed FD we are watching turn to crud on the field before our very eyes.

The team needs a significant clean out as well at year's end.  Some awefull players on this list who need to be moved on.  Did we just re-sign Fritsch for two more years?  My gosh that's already looking shakey.

There were some try hards out there tonight and some who at least gave a yelp but boy oh boy is this club flakey.   As flakey as it gets both on and off the field.

As far as i'm concerned, any chance we had of turning the sinking ship around walked out the door with Roos & PJ, ably assisted with the appointment of one very ordinary coach, in Mr S Goodwin.

2019 & 2020 = SHIZEN HOUSEN!

Yep... if that was to happen it would rip the soul out of the place

Oh, there will be. The membership and sales departments can cut back on staff coz no one will be calling.

I for one will be ringing them Monday to cancel my automatic renewal. 800 smackers for a reserve seat when I may not be able to watch this crap at all is not on.

There was a rock opera about a kid called Tommy who was deaf dumb and blind.

After all these years ... could The Who have made it about the wrong MFC personality?

Wonder if he plays a mean pinball?

Our back six - Lever, May, OMac, Hibbo, Lockhart, Harmes had 4 tackles between them.

Don't understand how that's possible from a backline in a professional highly paid sport?

Its called "Standoff Footy" Where you think

1 Your team will maintain possession

2 You believe your skills and judgment better than opponent!

Neither apply to MFC at all

I wonder how much internal heat there is on Goodwin? What would it take for Pert to get into the football department? Richardson has made no difference to our results - maybe he doesn't have much to offer, or maybe SG doesn't listen...

Brown was talking about lack of on-field leadership. Yep.

A soft team when the heat's on. Same as it ever was.

The narrative is that we’ve improved from last year, and we probably have, but we were also 3-5 last year.

We also beat Carlton, Gold Coast and Hawthorn last year.

People blaming forward line are way off, after quarter time we rarely went inside 50, the first quarter we kick to Port.

We keep saying this over and over again our skills and ability to hit targets is at local footy level not afl.  Bloody disgrace that blokes making big coin cant hit targets

We played like a team of Cale Mortons ...

I switched off at half time and turned onto Netflix for another Vikings episode

Didnt Burgess say a couple of days ago that he had these short turnarounds covered and that he had advice from Premier League colleagues about preparations re fitness ? Obviously hasn't worked , but why am I not surprised .

Has there ever been a fan base that has suffered as much as us over many many years ? I think not . And I am thinking global here . We are just so cursed .

I’m not sure what I feel worse about, the teams performance or my lack of anger, just a flat resigned attitude. ?

3/4 time stats, Gawn had 39 hit outs to Ports 10, yet only 5 were to advantage. There is zero connection between Max and our mids, zero connection between our mids and our forwards too.

I don’t pot shot our coach, but there really needs to be another review. Petracca and Gawn are the only players that haven’t gone downhill since 2018, others have dropped so far it’s alarming.

For the first time I’m actually contemplating stopping my auto renewal of my memberships and dropping it down to a 3 game pass just so I keep my consecutive years and get my scarf. ?

Their inability to put pressure on was a major issue.

Viney should have remained the captain. Don’t get me wrong Gawn plays his heart every week out but he doesn’t strike me as leadership material.

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?

  • FEATURE: 1925

A hundred years ago today, on 2 May 1925, Melbourne kicked off the new season with a 47 point victory over St Kilda to take top place on the VFL ladder after the opening round of the new season.  Top place was a relatively unknown position for the team then known as the “Fuchsias.” They had finished last in 1923 and rose by only one place in the following year although the final home and away round heralded a promise of things to come when they surprised the eventual premiers Essendon. That victory set the stage for more improvement and it came rapidly. In this series, I will tell the story of how the 1925 season unfolded for the Melbourne Football Club and how it made the VFL finals for the first time in a decade on the way to the ultimate triumph a year later.
