Lots of mistakes, but Hannan's decision to kick to the pocket in that last play was beyond stupid.

Would love to see what other options he had. If he had nothing, I'd have preferred him to wait for an option that wasn't on the boundary.

Fritsch leading to the pocket on his wrong side isn't ideal.

I'm shattered.  I'm worn out too, but shattered more than anything.

I felt like we deserved to win that game.  Apart from the second term where Brisbane played some scintillating footy, I thought we were the better side for most of the night.  I thought after half time our midfielders lifted superbly and our back line was absolutely fantastic.  They kept us in the game when we really needed it.

Viney was immense.  His ability to get out of traffic but weaving and fending off tacklers is sensational.  Oliver had another ripper game while Trac was fantastic yet again.  They are making a real difference for us.

Again, our back line was excellent.  They are setting up really well down there.  Cameron kicked a couple but outside of that he barely got a sniff, while Hipwood and McStay had little influence on the game.

Want to give a shout out to two players:

Melksham first.  Kicked three and is showing why we have persevered with him up to this point.  In these conditions he can be a classy player and it showed.

The second is for Jackson.  Tom Mac is going to find it hard to get back into the side with the kid playing the way he is.  Love his athleticism and you can see his confidence lifting.

And the umps can suck a big, fat one.  They sucked all night.

Onwards and upwards.  Go Dees.

Oliver did not have a ripper game. Watch it again my friend. His disposal was atrocious in the first half.

Great fight to get back in it and stay in the game when Brisbane were on top for QTR 2 and 3.

Umpires were gross, we lacked polish and composure but I am happy we didn't roll over and accept a 4 goal loss.

Goal kicking practise is needed this week!!

Seriously over the close loses. We have to win these games, no excuses.

So misses by Pickett, Harley Weed X 2, Harmes and Langdon is this game in a nutshell.

Woof. What a missed opportunity. Jetta nearly cooked. Jones probably is as well.

Imagine…three missed from Weid, 1 absolute sitter missed from Bennell. Fritsch should be dropped for McDonald on the basis of sheer Beavis-and-Butthead stupidity in the last 2 minutes.

Jetta made some mistakes but did a pretty good job on Cameron who can be a match winner

Bennell kicks a goal from 15 and we win. Jesus

If Brisbane are one of the yardsticks then we are right up there, must find a way to win next week.

Well Fritta marked it, even if it was centimetres out, so it wasn't the worst choice.

He could have gone back behind the mark and waited for players to run forward and at the very least look to lock it in there by kicking to the top of the square.

UMpires and other officials for the game can all be shipped back to Victoria. F for "Freddy' useless.

Viney was brilliant tonight.

Not far off it, but had the forwards done their jobs and kicked straight, the points would’ve been ours.

Cant be mad at the review or umps when we blew chances all night

You’re kidding aren’t you? That review call didn’t need to happen it was never going to impact the result.  A [censored] disgrace

28 touches, 10 tackles, 15 contested possies and 5 clearances.

Might have missed a target or two in the conditions, but he worked his backside off for us all night.

We should have won that.
Entirely our own fault

Getting tired of seeing it

Should be on 5 wins

Goal Kicking was atrocious over the whole night

Terrible camera work.

Ugh, we've had so many games stolen from us over the years, this would have been a nice steal for us.

... But instead, some fantastic work by Trac was wasted by garbage delivery from Hannan, and stupidity from Fritter - and unfortunately that's the sort of stuff that separates teams. In this case, funnily enough by less than a goal.

Not a terrible game at all, but lacking overall execution and polish. Weid misses 3, Harley and Kozzie each with bad misses. Langdon should really get those. If even one of them converts, it's a different story, probably.

Ah well, next time aye.

Pickett is vastly overrated.

This went under the radar.. should have went central. Pockets are for teams preserving leads

Missed chances by Weid, Harmes & Bennell crucial.

Also Pickett ... and you could throw in Langdon's miss as well.

bloody annoying but we matched it with the best

I'm more annoyed we lost to Geelong looking back on it a few weeks back

We really lack 4 quarter efforts so that needs to be addressed ASAP

Not totally his fault, dazzle.  Just went a moment too long as up till that point he held him up well.

I'm more disappointed in some of the easy shots we missed.  As titan pointed out above, we could have won by 2-3 goals.

Ironic that a few minutes early Zac Bailey went about 7 moments too long in giving the ball back and it wasn't called.

  • PREVIEW: West Coast

It was bad enough that the Melbourne Football Club created yet another humiliating scenario inside its wretched season at Marvel Stadium last Sunday, but the final insult is that it has been commanded to return to the scene of the crime to inflict further punishment on its fans this week. Incidentally, if this match preview, of a game that promises to be one of the most unattractive fixtures in the history of the game, happens to cut out of your computer screen three quarters of the way through, it’s no coincidence. I’ll be mirroring the Demons’ lacklustre effort against St Kilda from last Sunday when they conceded the largest last quarter turnaround for victory in the history of the game.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.
