Hard tag?? Hahahaha! I can definitely tell who knows their footy on this forum with just 1 post. He gave him a hard tag for 1 quarter and this is how you defend that tagging isn't is going out of fashion! So many dumb posts on here!

Opinion is opinion. If you don't like tagging, then fair enough. But don't give me examples that are false and misleading to others that are reading.

If you’re going to attack another poster for being dumb, a tip would be don’t then go and agree with the substance of the post in your own comment.

i didn’t say Kelly was tagged for the whole game, only that Collingwood used a hard tag. Kelly had 1 disposal to quarter time and Collingwood set up their win in the first quarter. It worked.

I’m also not saying Harmes should tag every week but there are certain circumstances where it makes sense. Just because something is going out of fashion doesn’t mean it should be shelved completely.

Anyway, agree to disagree.

So he hasn't signed yet for 4 or 5 years....

Interesting

Fingers crossed ?

I am sure I read earlier in this thread that he signed for 5 years, that poster must have been given some false info, who would of thought.

I'll put my hand up and say I got it wrong.

The same thing happened the first time I thought he had signed, he had been offered a contract and was expected to sign and I either took what I was told the wrong way or was misled somewhat. Either way, my fault, and I'll cop it on the chin.

Still waiting on the same posters that are harassing me for this mistake to say thanks for all the info that's been correct, but I get that's not the 'Demonland way'.

Good on ya for owning up mate.

Personally i love that you share your info and i more than understand info can not always be 100% accurate and situations change.

Regardless i support you posting any rumors you hear.

Cool mate, having internet enemies is really grown up.

Goodwin - the only coach that doesn't tag and plays players out of position.

Quality as always.

That is completely incorrect

Not everything gets posted, some things I message to a few quality posters, too many trolls and psychos get fired up otherwise, as evidenced above.

C'mon guys. Let's not turn this to another slinging match.

Good on you for owning up @Lord Nev . Respect for putting your hand up. Though i hope it doesn't stop you from posting further for the future on here.

Agreed, was going to say respect for owning the post that appears to have been incorrect. Then I get named dropped into the ensuing garbage, seriously.

Jay Clark said on triple M that Viney hasn't given a confirmation to Melbourne whether he's staying or going, but the club are really confident he'll stay.

I think Geelong don't want to pay him more then we are offering, they just expect players to go to Geelong because they are Geelong. On Thursday night the cats played the oldest side in history in a final, the last team to play the oldest team in a final was hawthorn in 2018.

Love your work Wise, but I reckon you’re giving Nev a rough ride. Pretty credible poster imo, not sure why you’re so tough on him. Personally I like hearing info that’s well informed but not fully baked - it’s like getting a progress update and helps you understand the approach the club is taking even if the cards don’t always fall.

Anyway, as you were ?

and they're going to be older next year when they add higgins and potentially goldstein to their list

You do realise i was being sarcastic.

As long as Viney re-signs for 4 or 5 years, who cares when he signs above the line.

We're all nervous until he does that.

Could be worse - some of the rubbish posted on Demons fb groups is out of this world!

I did not, my apologies mate

Come on mate no need to cry , he didn't even mention you.

I'm sure you've broken some good stuff here, I've personally never seen it but I'm sure it's happened.

You must have an awesome life if you feel the need to come on a footy forum and take personal shots at people you've never met.

*Adds another one to ignore*

Just keep posting what ever you hear LN I love your work

Its a forum right?Rumours are an important part of our combined theatre

Gee if we were limited to known facts properly sourced and double checked no body would post anything

Lighten up and enjoy the place for what it is

A lot of poster on here would not have lasted five minutes in the Public bars of days gone by when footy rumour, bluff and bluster were all part of made inner suburban working life bearable for hard working men during miserable winters. Its all part of the game.

  • GAMEDAY: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons are back on the road again and this may be the last roll of the dice to get their 2025 season back on track as they take on the Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

The Gold Coast Suns find themselves outside of the top eight for the first time since Round 1 with pressure is mounting on the entire organisation. Their coach Damien Hardwick expressed his frustration at his team’s condition last week by making a middle-finger gesture on television that earned him a fine for his troubles. He showed his desperation by claiming that Fox should pick up the tab.  There’s little doubt the Suns have shown improvement in 2025, and their position on the ladder is influenced to some extent by having played fewer games than their rivals for a playoff role at the end of the season, courtesy of the disruption caused by Cyclone Alfred in March.  However, they are following the same trajectory that hindered the club in past years whenever they appeared to be nearing their potential. As a consequence, that Hardwick gesture should be considered as more than a mere behavioral lapse. It’s a distress signal that does not bode well for the Queenslanders. While the Suns are eager to remain in contention with the top eight, Melbourne faces its own crisis, which is similarly deep-seated but in a much different way. After recovering from a disappointing start to the season and nearing a return to respectability among its peer clubs, the Demons have experienced a decline in status, driven by the fact that while their form has been reasonable (see their performance against the ladder leader in the Kings Birthday match), their conversion in front of goal is poor enough to rank last in the competition. Furthermore, their opponents find them exceptionally easy to score against. As a result, they have effectively eliminated themselves from the finals race and are again positioned to finish in the bottom half of the ladder.

As the Demons head into their Bye Round, it's time to turn our attention to the other matches being played. Which teams are you tipping this week? And which results would be most favourable for the Demons if we can manage to turn our season around? • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons have the Bye next week but then are on the road once again when they come up against the Gold Coast Suns on the Gold Coast in what could be a last ditch effort to salvage their season. Who comes in and who comes out?
