Have been absent from here so apologies.. was Hibberd a clean scratch today?

Hope Hannan pulled up well after the scratch match.

Would love to get him back in.  One of our most creative players, shame hes always hurt.

We need to take a good look at how Essendon go tomorrow. I expect that the  match ups against them are going to be very different. The way this seasons is going to be played out, we’re going to need plenty of players to rotate every week and players will be rested from time to time.

No doubt the selectors will overreact, bring OMac in for a small defender and Essendon's smalls will kill us.

I'd bring in Weid and Pickett. Either Jackson or TMac can go, don't really mind which. Jackson is raw but will be good, TMac is terrible atm.

Nibbler was good when we were playing well. That's the type of player he is. Hunt ditto. Neither will get dropped, but if hesitate to drop Melksham or Jones either. As bad as they were, they are still (generally) good users of the ball going forward (although chunk is losing it, quick).

It'll be a similar game to today's. Essendon are missing a few with injury, as were Carlton.

I'm going to say it.  We really missed O'Mac.

Casboult, McGovern and McKay combined for all of 2 goals. I don't think we missed the big witches hat at all.

Good effort to suggest changes clearly without watching the game but they should be as follows:

OUT: T. McDonald, Melksham, Jackson
IN: Weideman, Pickett, Lockhart

Smith gets a reprive up forward where he belongs.

Jackson you have lost the plot.

i know it was nev's 150 but he hasn't played a good game for some time now

Bit harsh, he was asked to play on a tall, next to smith and lever who didn't seem to realise they were actually in the backline.

Ummh 2 goals what though? If they kicked their set shots?

I dont see why we can't play all 3 of Jackson, McDonald and Weideman.

Yet instead of having a skinny half forward flanker at full forward why not stick Weid or McDonald down there instead. Use Jacko as the backup ruckman, and leave Weid and McDonald as genuine key forwards.

Jackson showed there is something to work with. Feel like that more game time and experience the better.

Gotta get Kossi and Vanders in there as well.

Agree, would even consider throwing Tmac back and dropping Smith

B.   Jetta  May  Lever

HB. Rivers Tmac Salem

C. Langdon Viney  Tomlinson

HF. Vanders Jackson Jones(lucky)

F. Fritsch    Weid   Kossie

R. Gawn, Oliver Trac

I/C. Harmes, Bennell, Brayshaw, Hunt

In. Kossie, Vanders, Weid

Out. Smith, Melk(rocket), ANB (unlucky was good)

I really like this! I really want to see Salam out of the back line and up the field.

Like to see Jackson at mcg

Tmac has been woeful for 18 months, he is getting a game based on 2018 form.

Jones, Melksham are almost done

Kosi comes in for Jones or Melksham

Tmac is lucky that you wont play Weiderman and Jackson as the key forwards, just yet.

Missing small defender who will stay down. Lockhardt to play, OMac to play full back, Lever back pocket!

May CHB, Rivers HBF, raffle out of Salem poor, Jettaterrible, Harmes ordinary, Smith shocker, Blues zero goals at half time with one true small defender for the Demons! Number of times we had 3-4 go up for punch in backline  just unbelievable!

Jones also very poor!

Bennell promising, skills elite!

Hunt was good!

Team stopped running during 2nd quarter and didn’t start again!!

Give most of them another week or two, see how they pick up or replace them!

I have faith with the back 7 from this week to improve as they play together more.

I can back in Tomlinson on a wing even though I think he's rather ordinary. Gawn, Petracca, Oliver, Viney, Langdon pick themselves.

But we have to make at least 1 change to the midfield to get a better balance and we need to mix up the forward line.

I'd give Jackson another week, the wide open space of the MCG should suit him more, there was a lot of almost moments. Melksham and T Mc get chances to do more. Bennell clearly stays. Fritsch should get more freedom up the ground to use his versatility but he's not going anywhere. Nibbler -  well he Nibbled as well as he could today. And Hunt's speed and hard leading deserves a reward.

That leaves:
Out: Brayshaw - cover his midfield minutes with a variety of quicker and more skilled players
Jones - he just doesn't have it any longer

In: Vanders
Pickett

In kossie out ANB.

ANB wasn't our worst but I think kossie will add more to the team.

Goodwin spoke in an interview about being able to select from a full list but also wanting continuity. Don't expect big changes.

Jetta, May, Lever, Smith will be better as weeks go on.

2.1. Not sure if any out on the full or dropped short.

McGovern roamed free up the ground and took some marks, they didn't get the zones or switches right. The other two hardly touched it, 1 touch inside 50 for each of them.

It is not just ins and outs. Look at three big name signing.

May is not a fullback, dominated games at GC as a half back

Lever is only useful as a third  tall.

Tomlinson is ok but not a wingman,

And then there are the regulars, Jetta sadly is near the end. brayshaw is a plodder. Vineys role should be replaced with Harmes. Without the bullocking Viney is a rover to ther best ruckman in the league, Whoever is at his feet should be starring. Old school second rover for mine. Neil-Bullen far too happy with himself. It just goes on and on. Loved Petraccas game but to hear him say the BLues are a really good team is ridiculous. Sire say they gave hard competition, but a good team. No.

Goodwin is simply not up to it...

Ah yep but who to replace>> Ross Lyon??

Besides two brain fades, I thought Smith defended well. I can certainly see why the coaches are in love with him. His athletic ability is quite freakish.

I do wish he was playing up forward though.

Dazzle can we send club a huge memo..... PLAY SMITH FORWARD with a free Reign, And T MAC CHB and if he dont make it there ... see ya later!

We could do with his toughness and knowlege but I am wary. I think the issue is the call on who to replace Roosy was a crucial call. A once in a generation to have one very good coach replace another. There was planning and there was plenty of time for the replacement to settle in to the role and hit the ground running. Whatever happens from here, that did not happen.  A significant wasted opportunity. Calton came back but we should have been able to halve the contests after half time.

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

A few years ago, the Melbourne Football Club produced a documentary about the decade in which it rose from its dystopic purgatory of regular thrashings to the euphoria of a premiership victory. That entire period could have been compressed in a fast motion version of the 2025 season to date as the Demons went from embarrassing basket case to glorious winner in an unexpected victory over the Dockers last Saturday. They transformed in a single week from a team that put in a pedestrian effort of predictably kicking the ball long down the line into attack that made a very ordinary Bombers outfit look like worldbeaters into a slick, fast moving side with urgency and a willingness to handball and create play with shorter kicks and by changing angles to generate an element of chaos that yielded six goals in each of the opening quarters against Freo.

  • NON-MFC: Round 07

Round 7 gets underway in iconic fashion with the traditional ANZAC Day blockbuster. The high-flying Magpies will be looking to solidify their spot atop the ladder, while the Bombers are desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top eight. Later that evening, Fremantle will be out to redeem themselves after a disappointing loss to the Demons, facing a hungry Adelaide side with eyes firmly set on breaking into the top four. Saturday serves up a triple-header of footy action. The Lions will be looking to consolidate their Top 2 spot as they head to Marvel Stadium to clash with the Saints. Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans. Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
