Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Taylor Walker can so smart he is lucky breath is an inert action or he'd forget!

If AFL players want to keep playing isolate them all (players/umpires/coaches etc) right now away from families etc in hotels and bus them to a single venues and play games back to back at the single venue.

Well we’ll well the AFL have done it again... who needs to shorten the half time break when they can slip in a reduction in game time during a set of extraordinary circumstances. What’s the bet they don’t go back to the current system after this season?

I’ll take my tinfoil hat to the supermarket with me, might help get access to toilet roll.

Taking the game to the World ?

Taylor Walker thinks the AFL has the perfect opportunity to take our game to the world

Adelaide forward Taylor Walker has boldly suggested AFL games be streamed to the US in the absence of major American sport due to the coronavirus.

?

I can see the crows getting some traction in North Dakota on the back of this.

A similar thought crossed my mind re. some sort of conference system - now would be the perfect time to roll out any such sinister intentions, as it would certainly help with inter-club containment. Let Adelaide and Port bash each other silly for the next six weeks in an endless series of derbies, and if one of those teams falls foul we can all maybe watch West Coast and Freo keep going at it.

Whats the point of shortened quarters lol

Either you play or you dont

I believe it's to allow shorter breaks between games should it be necessary to "cram" more games into a smaller timeframe. It's consistent with the other idea which I've seen media claim is a done deal although I haven't seen anything official, that allows or requires clubs to extend their lists to 50 players.

I am surprised at the amount of cynicism in this thread. We are in very unusual times and the various measures being announced or talked about all deserve consideration. Some might be good ideas and others not so much, but at least the AFL is trying to keep the competition going. I know some (like SWYL) think it's crazy to play a contact sport. The alternative view is that society needs to be entertained at a time like this, and AFL games, albeit with no crowds, is one way of doing that.

As i have posted previously i reckon this is doable. Lets say they played at the MCG, or god forbid marvel. Or perhaps Adelaide Oval.

Hotels must be completely empty and would love 1200 odd people (all players and coaching staff, medical teams etc) staying in them for six weeks.

Completely book out say six  hotels close to a playing venue (so you would only have 200 or so at any one hotel spread out over multiple floors and everyone their own room) and smash out the games.

Say it was at the G you could book the Pullman and five other hotels in a the CBD (all within a 2-3km radius). Teams rotate training on the G and at Goshs, AAMI Park, Punt Road and Collingwood's ground. All in walking distance so no buses required (minimising transmission risk).

No planes required for players after initial flights into Melbourne for the 8 interstate sides so minimising air travel and need to transit through airports.

The CBD will be practically empty soon so players could get out and about a little bit. Book out some cinemas (which will be empty) and other entertainment options where players could spread out, so they have something to do.

Plenty of parks to wander around for positive head space and nice hotel room to go back to.

Relatively cost effective.

Of course players and staff would be away from family but that's workable for six weeks.

It could work

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
