WHICH footy Clubs Are you talking about?

None of them  are Of any strength now so MOVE ON from the VFL/VFA period am look to the future .

Those "Footy Clubs" are not around and the 80,000 population is the future of that area and it needs a high class sporting facility for  Pt Melb and Maybe the Dees For S as Amin Social snd  Training etc.

FGS give up the 70's  footy culture and move on SWYL!

You sound like an AFL CEO

The VFA was a fantastic competition that has been completely ruined by AFL greed.
both Competitions could have survived, but AFL House could never contain itself

Don’t you EVER tell me to suck it up and Support Port Melbourne.
It will never happen

For all those people saying just train to Richmond and watch training at Goschs. After the new train underground goes in no trains from the SE suburbs will go through Richmond. None, no Pakenham or Cranbourne trains through Richmond. I still cant figure out how all the people on Anzac eve game going to the SE will get on the Frankston train.

Assuming they aren't totally braindead they'll run footy special Cranbourne/Pakenham trains that go from Richmond to South Yarra, then express to Caulfield and onwards. Or even just express to Caulfield then change to the regular service.

Probably to more interesting question is whether they run footy specials on the way to the footy that go via Richmond. Absolutely no reason why they can't. Otherwise it will be very packed Frankston trains from Caulfield or a walk/tram/train from whatever the new Flinders St metro station is called.

Why they aren't building a metro stop at South Yarra and mixing up the trains that go City Loop vs Metro is beyond me but I guess they have their reasons.

We have a President largely appointed to get this done.

The club have said the planning is underway and there’s a number of spots around Gosch’s.

Can we just relax and trust the club to do what they’ve said they will do?

I am about all relaxed out we have been waiting 45 years. Patience is a virtue if true we are the most virtuous group on the planet.

Our Casey facilities are world class and match it with any of the big European football club training bases.

As a stopgap, AAMI is fine.

I don’t expect any sudden changes. I expect El Pres will guide the process. The last thing we heard publicly was there was a task force to pick the best site with Government involvement.

I don’t know how long we’ve been seriously working on a new base. We didn’t move to AAMI until recently. If my memory is correct it’s only the last few years that we’ve got serious about the next base. And after the Yarra Park stuff leaked it’s all been Gosch’s. As long as it’s on track I don’t care if it’s slow going.

Lets tell the Storm how great (cough, cough) Casey is and how they could have a great big place to stay?

They lived out of a shanty hut/shed for their first few seasons DB.  I doubt they'll be moving out to the sticks in Casey

I'd much prefer to have Casey as a summer training base and have our permanent base closer to the heartland.

There is plenty of available land around keysborough. You could build your own facility there and own the land outright. I think we need to move on from being next to the mcg.

Keysborough!!!?? much worse than CASEY FIELDS NO WAY KNOWN

FAWKNER PARK is a huge precinct with many uses, however could a training base /hub be looked at there?

If Collingwood can do the lexus centre why couldn't we and state Gov put our heads together and come up with a package that looks good and has some community benefits

Can we build facilities over the railway lines behind the arts area of federation square and Birrarung Marr?

A CBD training and home centre would be great! Melbourne FC in a real Melbourne address.

I know there was a site in Bentleigh East which was nominated by a prominent supporter about 5 years ago. That same supporter offered a cash donation to turn first soil but it never got off the ground as the club felt it was too far from the MCG.

Trying to remember the exact location....?

Basing the club out of Casey would be a disaster. You also have to consider that a club's base is the primary working location for staff and players. It's not where we play our home games. Getting talent out to Casey would be a challenge. It is not a desirable option and a members vote would put a stop to it once and for all.

So the state government announcement about the facilities at Latrobe Uni

gets rid of one club from the MCG precinct     Unless I am reading things wrong,

that leaves Caulfield Race Course and the old Holden manufacturing site in Port Melbourne.

I will be pleased when some decision is made, though if we keep winning I can wait a bit longer !

anywhere else ?

Well the much maligned Goschs / Casey situation has netted us 9- 0 so what the hell are we worried about. The main item is the player quality. The Pies won a flag from this exact location.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
